My car 86 Nero Met. I lost the rear rubber molding strip while driving from Chicago to S.E. In. I have seen 3X8's with the molding removed all the way around. I don't see the strips listed at Ricambi or Rutlands. Do I replace or remove?

Well I just realized why this thread got no replies. There is rubber moulding all the way around My car but apparently this is not stock even though it sure looks like it in real life.Somebody must have installed this while the car was very young because I have an early service record from Shelton Ferrari re-glueing the rubber moulding when the car had 1659 miles on it.

The moulding was not factory fitted but rather Dealer fitted from new. These protector strips/rubbers were first done on 308QV'S from memory, possibly on earlier 308's and then 328's!Several prominent dealers including Shelton's fitted them at the time.

Somewhere in my Ferrari literature collection I have a brochure from Shelton's from the mid/late 1980's on aftermarket dealer Ferrari accessories and they are pictured/shown in that.

Yours was probably ordered/fitted by the first owner judging by the mileage on the service receipt!

    Cheers,

    Pete

It's not a factory thing. FAF started it back in the 80's. I have been looking for some for 13 years.

    Good luck.

Well since I am now missing 2 of the moulding strips, that can only mean one thing. WEEK-END PROJECT....WOO...HOOO remove all moulding and clean the channel of glue residue.I will wrap up the strips and store them away.
