I was on Thorndale Elgin/Ohare tonight heading west in my TR, when two 20-something guys in a Silver 360 Modena pulled up next to me at a light. We talked for a minute and the driver told me he was FCA, and the light changed and we took off. Just before the Wright BLVD. exit an opening in the traffic happened, and they opened up and I followed, but quickly they braked as they approached the exit, they were in the left lane, and I was in the right, and exited. In the middle of the exit was a cop facing us, and while I had braked and was behind a car exiting, they continued on the highway, and the cop went after them to pull them over. Luck of the draw guys, hope to see you at an event...

    Wow......

    Close call...

I actually got pulled over in Milwaukee while coming down to Chicago this past weekend. Cop asked me where I was going. I told him "to an Advanced Driving Class in Chicago". He almost started laughing. This was two minutes after yelling at me in an loud voice and ANGRY tone......

"I would tell you you should be driving slower, but I doubt you are smart enough to understand!!!!!"

5 minutes after he says that to me, I am back on the road and ticket/warning FREE!!! Wow. I couldn't believe it. Begging and pleading does work!! I owe him big time.

By the way, he had me 17mph over in the rain. And had been trailing me for a mile. I was too busy talking on the phone to Vince (Sklitz from Chicago FChat) to notice. And he was PISSED when he came up to the car.

Mid-sentence I was like "Uhhhh Vince, I gotta go, I am getting pulled over!!!!")

Here are some more quotes and general dialogue from the episode.....

"Do you realize how fast you were going??"

    Me - No sir

Him - Well, you were doing 72. How do I KNOW you were going 72?? Cause I have been behind you for the last mile. I got behind you back when it was 65 and since it has dropped to 55, you have gone through TWO signs saying it was 55!!! What does that sign say on that bridge ahead of you??

Me - (after squinting to see it way up there.....) Uhhhhh 55??

Him - You shouldn't even been doing 72 in the 65 in this rain. It is dangerous and you should know better than that. "I would tell you you should be driving slower, but I doubt you are smart enough to understand!!!!! Give me your license and I will be back with your ticket......

(Here is me fumbling to find my license as he is standing in the rain)

    (I hand it to him)

Him - "Where are you from"

Me - Uh Madison but I grew up in Mukwonago

Him - "Where are you going"

Me- To an Advanced Driving school in Chicago for turning and braking techniques

    Him - Are you serious??

    Me - Yes sir.

Him - Well it is obvious that you have done some driving then before (as I am sitting there in my FERRARI jacket!!) How many tickets have you had in the last 2 years??

Me - Well I had one. But before that, I hadn't had one in 6 years. And only 3 in my whole life.

Him - Alright. Well, usually I do one of 3 things when I pull someone over. I either give them a good ass chewing. Or I give them a ticket. Or I do both. I have already given you your ass chewing.

Me - (Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, I go into complete begging mode!!) Officer, I am begging you to not give me a ticket. This is my company's car and they won't be happy at all with me if I got a ticket today. PLEASE. I am begging for leniency!!

Him - (He hands me back my license) Alright. My brother worked for GE and got a car too. I know how his company would have felt if he had gotten a ticket. You know better. Slow down.

Me - Thank you SO much. What is your name?? (I got his name and he will be getting a envelope with cash next week with a note that says "Thanks for the tips as to how to drive better on the freeway in the rain....."). Nothing more than that. Hopefully he will know where it came from. I did it before when an officer let me out of an 18 mph ticket without even a warning. Still remember his name.

Might think about doing something like that guys if you get out of a ticket. What goes aroung comes around!! ;-)

Then all the cops around there will start looking for your car, pulling you over, "warning" you and then letting you go :)

That's what you get for hanging out with those type of people. I bet the cop knows Vince and was punishing you simply for that. Or because of your interactions with Bill365 and how he treats lady cops in the rain. But given the date, I think he was trying to meet his end of the month quota? You'll have to admit being a WI boy, that south of Milwaukee the police actually look out for FIB plates. I was told this by a resident of Kenosha... simply not fair.

Sean, was the 360 a coupe? There is one that resides way out west by me but it is driven by an older gentleman.
