I have a ‘93 911, all original paint, slate grey metallic. The first/only owner prior to me used a Colgan vinyl bra on the front end, so the front bumper is near perfect after 68,000 miles. There are a few rock chips on the front hood, but absolutely not worth a respray.

    Question is whether to:

    A. Do PPF on the front bumper.
    B. Do PPF over the bumper and front hood, over the chips.
    C. Leave it as is.

I’m planning on visiting a very reputable paint/detail shop out here in the Palm Desert area to see if they can maybe do some spot touch up and then PPF.

Any thoughts? I’m keen on keeping the original paint, because it’s really nice other than a few stone chips.

There is a good chance that you will see the touched-up rock chips. My PPF guy told me just 2 months ago when i had the front clip redone that the PPF will tend to pull the paint out of the chip during install leaving a visible spot under the PPF. I had several spots where rocks had busted through the PPF during prior ownership. so I ended up having the the middle of the hood resprayed and blended. It looks perfect now with the new PPF.
Just something to ask your PPF installer if you go down that route.
