Putting my 355 back together after the resto and Im wondering if I should keep the black pinstripe off or reinstall? Im thinking reinstall to keep looking original but I'm torn. Anyone running without it?

Pinstripe on in my opinion as I like the look with my color (rosso barchetta), but it's your car and good either way depending on what looks good to your eye. Unless you are doing a concours resto, do what looks good to you.

If I were to to walk up to your car at a show and see the stripe missing I would assume you were not done with the restoration ;)

I tought of leaving it out also for a half second when I repainted my 355 but quickly came to my senses and put it back.

That is a pretty important 'belt line' in balancing the car.

I would put it back on.

Put it back on, It is one of the "cool" things that the F355 shares in lineage to the F50...

Just google "F355 door" and you will notice the black pinstripe running along the middle of the door (horizontal :) )

The black body line was first introduced in 1975 on the 308 GTB prototype - Long before the F50 came on the scene.

The stripe is a crucial part of Ferrari's design language. It's been carried through even to the La Ferrari.

    I wouldn't remove it.

In My (usually unwanted) opinion, cars missing the stripe that should have them just look wrong!

    Meh.....

Leave it off. It's just a stupid sticker anyway. Unless you are entering a Concorso contest I wouldn't bother.

Where are people buying OE spec pinstripes? It looks to be flat or matte black.

I wouldn't bother with the OEM stuff. Lots of sources for 1/4" pin stripping tape in all colors and gloss levels.

    Ken,

Every panel on my car has been repaired and painted as a result of several mishaps when it raced including the time it wound up on its roof at Lime Rock Park in 1996.

The 3M Striping Tape was used when each repair was done. It's either flat black or matte black, I don't know the difference...

Sure, my car is five or six shades of yellow, but it's straighter now than when it left the Factory. :)
