I will be storing my 355 F1 for the winter (Edmonton Ab) and would appreciate some feed back on weather to start it up once a month and run it up to temp, or is it better to not start it at all. It will be in storage for +- 6 months

    Thanks

    Ken

I would leave it. The cold starts you are talking about will be likely in minus 20 degree temps. They will likely do more harm than good. Start it in the spring when its been above zero for a while.

Yes, leave it sit. If you can not get everything up to temperature starting it and letting it run for a short period is the worst thing you can do. Starting is one of the highest wear periods for any engine due to lack of oil pressure. Additionally, a cold engine generates a lot of liquid water in the exhaust which only serves to promote problems.

Fill the tank with gas, disconnect the battery and forget it. Some will say add 5 psi to the tires to help prevent flat spots, though I have never done so.

    (1) Fresh gas
    (2) If you are more anal pump up the tires to about 50 PSI and put a post-it on the steering wheel to remind yourself to decrease the pressures before driving
    (3) Plug in battery tender (not a trickle charger)
    (4) Don't start the car again until ready to drive
    (5) count down the months to when you get to drive her again :)
