I think you got screwed. Doubly so, actually. First from the car itself and secondly the bad publicity you brought upon yourself. People want to deal with stable businesses, not companies who constantly have drama around them. Admittedly, in the thread in your Sponsor forum, you recognize not all publicity is good pub. So you screwed yourself.

When I was Ferrari shopping I ended up buying from one of the most stable dealers out there. I checked him out extensively before wiring over a nickle. If I were in your shoes I'd be trying to build that kind of stability. Some of your buyers seem to love you but the few people you've turned off are really vocal. Your reputation is the one thing, in business, that you take with you always--so protect it.

I also think you screwed Sports Car Company by going public. Yeah, you kept it anonymous but rimoore took the bait. You say you've been working on it a month. Have you hired a mediator? Have you flown in for a face-to-face?Seems like it is a conflict that can definitely be resolved by the two businesses.

I'll give you this--you definitely care. You care so much its not business for you, it's personal. I like that quality about you.

Right now the amount of BADwill and unpaid business debts are at an all time high, since I have been in business anyway. I got clipped for $80K a couple weeks ago when a major customer of mine did a surprise bankruptcy. If Obama wants to change something he should make business owners personally liable for certain debts. We let go a couple good people from that $80K loss. Still, because of the people working for that company, we decided to continue to do business with them instead of writing them off and collecting on the BK insurance. Goes to show you things can be worked out. The $80K hurt but we can make it back in about a year and them have them as customers moving forward.

Good luck getting this worked out privately.

Been reading the drama in this entire thread...had to comment on this quote from an earlier post.

Roy did ship a car across the country for a PPI...because I wanted the PPI completed by my dealer instead of one that was much closer to where the car was located. He actually guaranteed the car to pass the PPI and paid for a few things found after the PPI with no questions. This isn't a story I heard from someone else. This is my actual experience with Roy.

    my 2 cents

It's too late. You have open your mouth and said the wrong thing once too many times. It appears to me that your attacks against Roy only appear to me, your way of justifying your wrong doing.

It's my opinion that Roy stands behind what he sells. I have done business with Cats Exotics for this reason. I have never known of "rimoore" or the "Sports Car Company", but after reading rimoore's statements I would not do business with your company.

Just my 2 cents. So go ahead, as you have done so many times and attack me as well!

You appear to me to be a dishonest person that uses attacks and comments like this to try to make yourself look better. Keep posting your statements to dig yourself a deeper hole!!!!!

    This what I see...

Dealer A has on occasion, by several people, and on several different forums, been accused of being less than forthcoming with disclosure on cars they have sold. While this may have been true at one point, Dealer A has made a concerted effort to rectify this situation. Anyone looking at Dealer A's website, or indeed doing business with Dealer A will note a much-better-than-industry standard of disclosure. This has gone a long way towards changing perceptions of Dealer A, yet the previous reputation remains, such being the nature of a reputation.

Dealer B has been caught, seemingly red-handed, engaging in precisely the same behaviour. It's as simple as that. Full disclosure was not made to Dealer A when a car was purchased from Dealer B.

Once again we all learn the lesson of Caveat Emptor.

Dealer A delivers a car, unknown to them personally, to a PPI of the End Buyer's choice and the car is revealed to be what it is, deeply flawed and not at all what Dealer B described to Dealer A.

The difference comes when Dealer A makes the End Buyer whole and happy, ultimately with another car. Dealer B reportedly refuses to make anyone whole, instead falling back to the age old "it's your problem now".

Dealer A has made mistakes in their past and are working to amend their ways. Still, probably not the best voice to be yelling about bad dealer behavior. Dealer B is making their mistake now, by going to "the best defense is a good offense" and ignoring the fact that they have no leg to stand on when accusing Dealer A of anything.

In the end either lawyers or King Cash will see this to an end, but no matter the outcome there are those here, and other forums, that will be branding both dealers involved as shysters.

IMHO, both of these dealerships enjoy a reputation of being up-front and standing behind their cars.

Jim Lyons at Sports Car Company does a high volume of car deals and seems to price his cars pretty well based on their overall plusses and minuses. Many people will vouch for his reputation in the marketplace over the years.

I have personally witnessed Roy Cats stand behind a few of the cars he has sold to some friends here in the Mid-Atlantic region. He has been willing to split the costs of fixing and/or even "upgrading" a few cars, even though those costs would be tens of thousands of dollars to "make the deal right" from the buyer's perspective.

I also realize this is a dealer-to-dealer car deal, so it is outside of the normal situation most of us customers would face in dealing with either one of them.

I actually would not hesitate to make a deal with either one of them. But nothing could be more valuable than doing a local detailed PPI by an experienced independent shop, in either case. (And, both of them, would probably agree.)

Buying a previously-owned exotic car is all about passion. And both of these dealers share this passion for these cars. Realize that previous owners may have rev'ed these cars some, may have taken them out on a race track, and maybe may have even bent a few parts in the process. The important thing is to have an experienced mechanic spot the difference between an exotic car that has lived a pampered life and one that has been put away wet and sweating.

Just thought I'd throw these thoughts into the mix.

    I agree with you.

I am not sure why Roy is confusing the issue talking about the resale license and such when that doesn't seem to be relevant. It seems Roy's main beef is more than enough to be damning, if true, but I still don't know the real story.

It seems according to Roy, Dealer B knew the car was damaged and had a washed title, and never disclosed it to him. Roy seems to claim that he knows Dealer B knew of the history of the car, because he talked to a company (mechanic or another dealer) who worked on the car for Dealer B and had told Dealer B of the cars history.

Roy claims Dealer B sold it with a "notation" on carfax but failed to disclose the damage history of the car and the previous salvage title he says they knew about.

I haven't heard anything from Dealer B other than "you knew it had a notation on the title". It may just be me, but it sounds like he is acknowleding the car was indeed in a major accident and had a previous salvage title, but he feels that disclosing it had a "notation" is sufficient disclosure to Roy of the cars history.

    Am I understanding this right?

If there was honest disclosure and the car was as-claimed, I don't see why Dealer B wouldn't just take it back and sell it again... unless of course as stated it is a "hot potato" and they wouldn't be able to get the same price for it if the true history were known.

I may be wrong, but as a buyer that is how it seems to me. And as a buyer, that means I would never ever consider buying anything from Dealer B.

But that's just based on what I know from the thread. If I am wrong I would like to know because as a buyer, I like to feel comfortable who I buy from.

So, even some may not think so, I do try to learn from every experiance I have. I want to give my feedback here and my decision on this sad situation.

I can say by the grace of GOD I am lucky to have led a blessed life and not have ever really had want for anything. I enjoyed my 10 years as a Police Officer, enjoyed my marriage that brought me two wonderful children that are grown adults now and still call me Popi and give me a kiss on the cheek when ever we meet...quite often thankfully. They grew up free of drugs and criminal acts and have become good providers to their friends, family and the community. I had one set of parents that stayed together my whole life. They were always good to me and my younger brother. They left all they had worked for to me and my brother, allowing for us to continue in their business and lead a good life.

I obtained the commercial side of it www.fpiseattle.com as my brother took the Residential side and now is happily living in Florida...pretty much retired. (probably smart thing to do). My company has always been well producing and I have many employees I considere close friends and employeed with me for more than a decade at the least. I have never had to lay anyone off or cause for less than top standards in the industry for them and their familys as well as mine.

My PASSION for Exotic Cars and cars of all types ultimatly led me into this car business..NOT for the money but for the pure pleasure of playing with these cars, meeting new friends and getting the chance to constantly rotate my own collection of "gotta have that" car. I have had the ultimate pleasure of meeting many intresting people, driving cars I never thought I would and just old plain having fun with the darn things. I can say that in the last approx 5 years since I have been in the business as a licensed Dealer I have IMO provided a lot of joy to many as well as supported family's through their employment with me. I can also honestly add that till this day I have YET to show a profit for this company...BUT that was never my intent...if it broke even I would be happy with the day to day joy I get out of "getting" the deal done.

At times it is strange, I have been so succesful in my main business that I wonder what I do wrong here...then I always come back to the same answer...I get to darn involved in these cars as my own..and when there is one I want I get it...and also when I sell one it has to be as right as it can...I try to think I would only sell a car that I would own..AND that is why I have the guarantee I do..that most say is insane for an Exotic Car Dealer.

I have always said to myself, I never want to have to go to a car event, look up see a previous customer and duck to the side in hopes he does not see me for having not given him what his hard earned money was buying...it has to be right...I want to be able to shake the hand of any and all customers and hope them to be friends for many years and not be ashamed of what I sold them.

I have had an issue such as this in the past that most of you are familiar with "Josh and the "stolen" Gallardo..what did that do for me..JACK CRAP..cost me well into the 200K dollars and ended up where it began, making Josh whole and getting his car back. Yes the other two Dealers involved are still as far as I am concerned "dirt bags" and can rot in hell...but they need to sleep with themselfs, or their best friends wife tonight not me.

So I can see this going down the same path, spending money that ONLY makes someone else richer and just doing me no good what so ever in the end..is it a cave in, maybe but I am getting to old to wait for the next summer all the time, I want to enjoy my years, my friends, my cars, my ELFS, my pool, my Tequilla and just be happy that I woke up the next morning to do it again.

After much thought I will place this car up on our site as well as e-bay at a NO RESERVE AUCTION starting at $50,000.00. A full description, copy of listed KNOW defects from the inspections AT TWO Authorized Lambo Dealers, before and after pictures as well as inspection pictures will be included. Please visit the site and view to advise me of anything I am missing...I want this CAR TO BE AS CLEAR AS DAY to anyone buying it. I have hope that there is someone out there that has a need for this car and will be happy for their purchase.

Then I will just go on with my life and chalk it up to another experiance learned and that is very simple...

NO car shall be bought by Cats Exotics for re-sale with out a ON SITE in person inspection by me or Kevin and our in house Mechanic..PERIOD!.

NO car shall be offered/advertised for sale via consigment from Cats Exotics with out having first been given a full and independant PPI from an "Authorized Dealer" for such BRAND being offered for Sale, independant from Cats Exotics.

These rules shall be added to my current rules of no selling or consignment of "Salvaged titled cars" as well as our current requirment for a buyer to get a PPI of their choice prior to final sale of the vehicle and to be eligable for my "Exclusive BUY BACK GUARANTEE"

Thank you all for your comments...hope we can now move on with the fun part of these boards..showing off or cars AND our ELFS!!

Here is the new listing...as well as the ebay link. Happy bidding!!

I have already had few messages in reagrds to "do I have an idea on the cost to make the car right...?"

I have an estimate from Lamborghini of Portland for approx $7K to replace and correct all the suspension issues. Then add $2K for new tires, add $6K for new wheels, or re-do them at a lesser cost...put not sure if that is safe as some say it weakens the wheel when chemicaly damaged...

Cosmetic stuff left...anyones guess as to how far you want to go..

    I hope this helps..

Bravo my friend. +1 on the Serious class act. Its gestures like that which will dispel all the negative press you accidently brought yourself. Any dealer that has the capacity to recognize the need to go the extra mile in this competitive market place is all right in my book. Personally, if you are sincere in your requirements outlined above, I think you will find a lot more business coming your way down the road. In the future, however, keep the dirty laundry out of the public eye. Any business can make money in the short term, but a great business has the sophistication to control damaging information and publicize and exploit the positive. There are always two sides to every story and, personalities being what they are, being right has no relevance to public perception. If you don't believe me, go spend some time watching a criminal jury trial. IMHO, justice is the happy subjective coincidence of a masterful presentation. Since justice cannot be provided on the internet, the next best thing is to present "the truth" However, the truth gets even more difficult to ascertain in a lawless forum where everyone is an expert, and accusations are a perfectly acceptable substitute for fact among certain members. Next time you want to post something that is potentially derogatory, remember that and be mindful that you lack the presentation skills necessary to control the argument--no offense. In truth, I have only seen a few times where someone has masterfully shut down the other side, and it has usually been done when someone has carelessly exposed their flank by making a reckless comment.

Well enough of my soapbox, it must be time for my medication ;)

Good luck to you and your business I hope to see all of this behind you. I am sincerely impressed with your last post.

My story is very similar to that of JunR. When I was purchasing my SE30, the dealer who was located in NJ would not allow me to transport the car out of state. Cats Exotics advised me to go ahead and purchase the car sight unseen and to obtain the PPI in CA. If, for any reason, I was dissatisfied with the PPI results, Cats Exotics would refund my money in full no questions asked. Not only did Roy and Kevin go out of their way to help me negotiate the final sell price but they took care of coordinating the transport of the vehicle and getting the PPI completed immediately following delivery.

This was my fourth vehicle transaction with Cats Exotics and I can not be more pleased with their level of professionalism and customer service.

Another interesting bit of trivia, when this car was originally repaired (if you could call it that) it had a one piece nose from a kit car. By that I mean the fenders and front bumper where all ONE PIECE!

BTW, how is your customer enjoying his new car?
