    Did the unthinkable today ! After 26 years of continuous Ferrari ownership (308/BB/308i/QV/288/328/360) I just traded my 00 360F1 for a new 04 6sp G car ! Second time I venture into the Dark Side. First was a new 88 Countach, a total disaster. Hope this time is better. Everyone is telling me I'm nuts ! Many factors did it, notably a long test drive in the G car and the uncertainty of a 430 delivery.

    Wait, am I reading your post correctly, you had a 288 as in 288GTO and you traded/sold it??? What are you thinking??!! You should be punished and banned from ever owning an exotic. :)

    Welcome. I made the jump after 6 Ferraris, simply because:

    the current 12 cyl. production car is not very exciting, having had 2 550s;

    i liked the drive of my BBi the best and the Lambo is more similar to that than any other Ferrari i've owned (so far);

    I was recently driving a GT2 and the "perfection" thing got to me (as did the banal interior); while the P car had enormous grunt and quickness, I was longing for rawness, Italian-style;

    I like the absolute outrageousness of the cars (I opted for a 6.0 Diablo).

    Enjoy, and drive it like you stole it.

    Thank you all. I ended up with L/Dallas's new Blue/Natural 6sp with glass cover, silver calipers, heated pwr seats, Home (no frikkin car cover !). Delivery hopefully next week; they'll pick up my 360 at the same time. I think they already have a buyer for it. Dealt with Jonathan Peck, a true gentleman, definitely worth dealing with. Wizco, I need support, I'm being scolded with nasty remarks ! This morning i had to walk thru my garage to get my paper; I'm glad the 360 was covered, I felt a little embarassed and guilty. It's getting to me !!!

    Awesome because it's a bad ass car and awesome because the interior looks just like that of my new Audi A8L. Yes I know Audi builds the Gallardo.

    I will be going the route of Gallardo over Ferrari.

    Tuning in late, and I hope you don't mind, but in what way was the 88 Countach a disaster?

    I would hate to give too many details amongst Lambo people but let's just say that somewhere in the annals of history, there are a couple of photos of me standing by my red Countach on the shoulder of the 405 Freeway in crowded Santa Monica, TWICE ! Once with smoke, once without ! I also "lost" my clutch when the car was delivered in a transporter. Truck driver asked his wife to back it out... with smoke and nasty clutch smell. No trustworthy dealerships at the time, good old Claudio Zampolli replaced it and I fought a whole year to get reimbursed. Epilogue: I sold it with about 3K miles and 4 flat-bed receipts in my file !! There is more but let's be nice.

    Bugger!

    But let's also say that reasonable Countach ownership is also possible....I guess.;)

    Thanks!

    You won't feel the guilt after you feel the huge torque advantage over the 360. :)

    Sharing a cell is fine with me as long as the prison is in the infield at Laguna Seca or the old castle at the Nurburgring !
    Obviously, my comparison is minimal based on a good test drive inthe G car, but that was enough to convince me. I'll be happy to share my later observations.

    Short story. Bought the GTO when it first came out at the 84 Geneva show. Drove it very little while in Europe, never brought it over stateside. Sold it in 87 at what I thought was a handsome profit because it was not being used much. Had I waited a couple of years, I could have bought another house with it !

    I can see the world famous "cork screw" from my 1x6 window!! I have fond memories of Laguna Seca as that is where I received my competition racing license. 3 days of running that track. I can only imagine taking the L cars out on it!!

    Now to a couple of serious questions.
    Is it true that the initial clutch problem on 04 6sp cars was resolved by using a different clutch assembly after cars produced in the 1600 range serial numbers ? Is it also true that Lambo are taking care of the problem under warranty ?

    Second, is it true that the sway bars mounting point cracking problem has also been taken care of after a certain s/n ?

    Third, any of you with a full year of G car ownership. What kind of mileage have you driven in one year and what does the "yearly" service involves ?

    Sorry if some of these answers already exist somewhere.
