I live in Cathedral City, CA. In the off chance that this guy is on this board, I want to bring this up.

I live on a wider-than-usual street, but it is still a two lane street with houses on either side. Speed limit is 25-30 mph in some areas.

Last Friday, while getting ready for a trip, a Gallardo came down the street at about 80mph. Not only was he going an unreasonable speed in a residential, he was passing cars on the shoulder. When I say shoulder, I mean gutter. in the bike lane and the gutter. at 75-85mph

my wife was walking out of the house and to the street to check the mail. The mailbox, like most, is right on the edge of the curb. You step into the gutter to turn and open the mail box. She missed getting hit by less than 10 seconds. there were cars parked on the street, stop signs at every block, which apparently were not visible to this guy.

I couldnt get a license plate. All I saw was him and a blonde woman in the passenger seat, the top was down.

All I want to say to this guy, despite how pissed I was at the time, is please don't do that again on my street, or anywhere else. I was in the middle of the street going towards his car, and Im glad he didnt stop because I would have done something really dumb. We have all done stupid stuff, speeding etc, but this was beyond any comprehension. I cannot imagine any reason for driving like this. 3 houses down there is a kid that always plays in the front yard. something in the gutter could have popped your tire and sent you into someones house or yard when they were there. its just not worth it. These are awesome cars, but not worth killing someone over.

No wonder you didn't pick up on the license plate.

should've called police, wouldn't have been too hard for them to spot his car in the area, most likely

The cars top was down, and it's likely the blonde's top was down at that speed as well

By the time I calmed down enough to think straight, Im sure it was parked in a garage somewhere. The wierd thing is I don't live in a great neighborhood, and those types of cars don't usually pass through this neighborhood like that. Not sure why he was there.

when he turned and came back, he was going with traffic. When he saw me in the street he waved and mouthed "sorry". He looked embarassed

it's just one of those streets where there is always someone walking around, down to the store, playing in the yard etc. Im not all bent out of shape anymore, I just wanted to make a plea I suppose. There are already enough idiots driving fast and blowing stop signs

a couple months ago a guy blew stop sign and hit a kid crossing the street in his wheel chair and killed him a few blocks dwn from my house.

I joined this fine forum to do research, but have to say I have been educated and entertained in equal measure over the years.

"Driving with the top down" in a serious post was too irresistable to pass up on.

Obviously an idiot and you are doing the right thing calling him out. I don't exceed the speed limit (within 5 mph) in my hood or anyone elses. Nothing irks me more than some reject flying through a residential area or parking lot.
