    I need some help on one of my problems.

    Design an electric space heater to operate from 120V. Two heating elements with resistances R1 and R2 are to be used that can be operated in parallel, series, or separetely. The highest power is to be 1200 Watts and the lowest power is to be 300 Watts. What values are needed for R1 and R2? What intermediate power setting is available?

    Thanks in advance.

    R1 = 24 ohm R2 = 24 ohm

    Put both R1 and R2 in series so total R = 48ohm

    power = v*v/r = 120*120/48 = 300W

    Put both R1 and R2 in parall so total R = 12 ohm

    power = v*v/r = 120*120/12 = 1200W
