I have had the windows tinted in all my other cars & wonder about doing it in the new Ferrari. Tinting shields the interior from UV & therefore slows aging of seats & dash. Also, I have always used a windshield shade (I know, dorky)in my 81 RX7 (& Miata) & the original dash & seats are like new after almost 25 years in the deep south w/ no garage. Do you tint?

I would. Especially on a black car!

Besides, you'll get more curious, "who is that!?" looks. :)

Seriously? I'd hate to leave an F-car outside all of the time. Normally I'm against tint as I think it looks chintzy (sp). In your case you might need it though.

    Don't do it Karen,
your car looks fantastic as is. It will look too monotone if the windows
are tinted. There is a mild contrast in a black car between the paintwork
and the glass. Looks great as is!
Use the sunshield/visor to protect the interior. Keep the leather well dressed.

I have a black Mondial and just moved to San Antonio - I'm looking at least at little tint pretty seriously as well as I use my car a lot. It's pretty hot here.

Any brands to recommend or things to look out for anyone?

    Two words: Car Cover. :D

(If it fades the seats, what does it do to the paint? Want your "little black dress-mobile" to become gray?)

The 328 AC is marginal at best. You're going to need the tint to keep the car cool while you're driving it. The car cover is a good idea while parked

    Tillman,

I see that you have the windows and the front triangle areas tinted... Did you tint the louvres and/or the back "glass" (plastic actually, if I'm correct) as well?

What "%" did you tint the sides?

The previous owner had it tinted. There's not tint under the louvers, though that will change with the Charness GTB mod that I'm working on now. The rear window isn't tinted, as the spoiler and the shape of the car pretty much block the sun anyway.

Our law restricts the amount of window film darkness on all side windows combined with any existing tint already in the glass to no darker than a number total of 25% LT. Vehicles earlier than 88 (mine's an 87) used to be exempt but are not any longer.

Hey, I chose black for a reason. Monochromatic is way cool w/ a slight tonal break. I don’t want to look evil…or do I? A bit stealthy, yeah. Reminds me of that tune: “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress”- Hollies.

"Long cool woman in a black dress" was the Hollies, not CCR. I think.
Your car is beautiful, don't tint. Use a car cover, dash cover, seat covers
    or whatever.

Why not tint? TCLARK? Hollies, right you are. Must have been thinking of "Bad Moon Rising". Or Warren Zevon's tune about the werewolves of London. AHHOOOH!

    OK Karen,
I have said it in two separate posts; your car is stunningly beautiful. Congrats on that purchase. A black Ferrari is drop dead gorgeous, and your's
    is no exception.
Will tinting the window's make it more comfortable to drive after sitting in the
sun on a hot afternoon? Yes

Does the A.C. in these cars really provide a comfortable atmosphere after
baking in the Savannah sun all day? No

Is the car perfect aesthetically design-wise without the tint? Yes

Can I suffer along with "dorky" windshield covers, car covers, seat
    covers etc...? For me, YES

    Just my opinion,
Your car looks great the way it came from Italy. No, they were not great
prognosticators, now did they have a crystal ball, but all in all, they did a
remarkable job. Consider the lines of your car.

I personally don't like the way tint looks on most cars. Just think it is cheezy looking, no offense meant. However, depending on the climate, it may be a necessary protection. I guess it is a matter of preference, and since you seem to like tint, then maybe you should go for it.
