I thought tobacco advertising was banned this year in F1? www.itv-f1.com/Home.aspx Or, is it only in Europe?
During the race weekends it is banned. But during testing in countries where it isn't banned, Ferrari is still running Marlboro livery. I doubt we will see it much more this year. They will probably run it at the test after the Australian GP in Malaysia, but I don't think there will be anymore opportunities.
Thats right, last year it was only banned in the EU. This year its banned in F1, except if its testing and not in non-tobacco country. So far the only places I've seen it is in Abu Dhabi and Australia.
I think it's retarded to ban tobacco ads. I don't think it's really convincing people to start smoking. I could see if the drivers were smoking after the gp and saying hey come toke up with us. but having a tobacco brand on a car doesn't IMO doesn't encourage people to start smoking, rather it promotes choosing a brand if you do smoke.
Canada too. But I can't agree with 1_can_dream, perhaps it is just because I'm a tool, but I choose to fill up with Shell gasoline, I have plenty of Puma gear, etc... who's to say that evil Marlboro logo wouldn't influence me to get some of their products too??
IMO and nothing more, the fuel that Shell sells in Sydney, Australia does not make my motor bike run as well as other brands ... I would love to do a octane check ... cause it pinks like mad. Pete
So before you saw the shell on the side of the Ferrari you didn't buy gasoline? and before you saw the puma on the uniforms you didn't buy shoes or clothes? so clearly the marketing made you purchase products that you hadn't any desire or need to before?
