I was this afternoon at the "Sommet des Légendes" at the Mt Tremblant race circuit QC Canada, the weather was awful: raining non-stop, the races where really poor, and cherry on the cake I lost my Leica camera !

After a quick tour in the paddock, I saw just 2 ferrari, 2 only, but 2 interesting ones, #3607 gt, owner S.Robson Walton (Walmart) and the other, that I can't indentify, apparently a 275gtb but the rear window is uncommun, the car was registred in Nevada and had a side exhaust, could someone help to indentify this car?

    thanks!

    That's 275 GTB/C Speciale s/n 07185.

Only three of these special competition cars were build. This is the last of the three. The other two are 06701 and 06885 (ex-Ecurie Francorchamps).

    Incredible cars.

    Best regards

I have not taken many more pics, I was too busy searching around for my camera, hopfully it was "only" my minilux not a M6 or M7...
This event was really poor in comparaison with what we are used to in Europe...next there is the Ferrari Festival at the same place. I will probably go.

    S. Robson Walton does not work at Wal-Mart. He OWNS Wal-Mart.
07185 is a special-bodied 275 GTB, also owned by Walton.

I fell in love with that car when he had it down at Monterey a couple years ago. He seems to have all the toys. He shows up and runs two or three cars at a lot of the major vintage events, and each car is always fantastic. Similar program to the McCaws. I gather he spends A LOT of time on the track. - George

Without being too harsh, I have to agree with you on that point, of course with the exception of major US events such as Pebble Beach, the Cavallino Classic or the Annual FCA Meeting.

Keep in mind that Noth America and the Old Continent are worlds apart on many levels.

    But...vive la différence. ;)

True but even Pebble Beach or the Cavallino will never be on the same level as a Le Mans Classic or a Goodwood Revival or SHell historic challenge...even smaller events like RMU Classic at Spa or Oldtimer GP at the Ring...you see there real races, famous drivers...and thousands of fans gathering there for the weekend and travelling in classics cars. Toute une atmoshère...

Huh? Pebble is about the top of the heap for static events, Monterey brings together track competition only seen at .... well, Monterey, and the
Shell Historic Challange is on this side of the pond as well. Clearly Villa d'Este for show and Goodwood for competion have risen to a level that in some respects exceeds the best of the USA events, but they ar not a monopoly on fun, cars, and people.

At Monterey I have had the chance to meet drivers like Fangio, Chinetti, Moss, Stewart, Shelby, Hill, and designers Zagato, Anderlonie, and a lot of kindered spirits. Not to mention the fact that a lot of folks from over there are coming here and visa versa these days. The world is getting smaller every day. Cheers, George

Neither the Cavallino Classic nor the Pebble Beach Concours are races, so either you have no knowledge of North American historic racing, or you are proving a point by comparing apples and oranges...

Cavalino Classic does include Ferrari Historic Challenge at Moroso, and, if you have a more inclusive view, the Monterey Historics Weekend hosts a superb collection of vintage race cars at Laguna, several high line auctions, the Italian marque based Concorso as well as Pebble. Both weekends are quite special.

    Cheers

Before comparing historic racing at Laguna or Europe you may be should have attended both... There are quite a few Americans who do not want to participate in Europe because of the far greater level of seriousness races take place.

As far as the quality of the field is concerned you may want to have a look here

    http://www.acm.mc/gphm/gphm_main.php

or the provisional grid for the 24 Hours Le Mans Historique, which not only will host 390 entries, but about 5000 classics (in relative terms) from all over Europe are expected as well.

I greatly enjoyed the Monterey Historics last year and the large amount of cars I had never seen before, and I found it even a nuisance not be able to attend on Sunday because it coincides with PB. I am really looking forward to be there again in August, but in terms of racing and competition it is nowhere compared to what is going on during the top european events. It might not be for nothing that Steve Earle participated in Monaco.....

Some pretty vigorous racing takes place in the states, however the attitude towards the does temper things a bit. Also if you have any contact in in one of Steve Earles events you are out of his events for a year (and if you were just making the cut I suspect it may be tough to come back ever).

I just did the Wine Country Classic a week ago (another of Steve's events) and it was nothing short of a spectacular weekend. A bit more low key than Monterey, but with unique attributes and frankly not the distractions of the "other" Monterey weekend activities.

I'd love to run at Goodwood, however I like my car too much. - George

It's not all door banging stuff in Europe. Most of the participants are just as careful as you are. Only the top few drivers go as fast as possible and you won't even see them unless you are really slow (and get lapped). If you've never been to European races before please check it out and decide for yourself if it lives up to its reputation. I think you'll be positively surprised.

    Best, Peter

sure, you don 't have to mix with the top placed, but make sure that you are not in the way.....and with an SZ you can also participate in nice things like Tour Auto...

08249 was not a Speciale GTB/C built at the Factory, It started life as a 275 GTB Alloy Bodied Standard car, (IF any of these things can be described as such), Sold new to Giovanni Pessina in Italy in 1966, it was 337th 275 built, with a Standard Scaglietti body #342.

    Does look fabulous though.

Looks like chasis 8249 orginally came with a type 213/comp engine. Those chassis pictures show alot of traits similar the other three Speciales.
