Whether or not a law (or sentence) is stupid is always irrelevant --- it is what it is.

Don't take this as any attack on your character, simply a commentary on your behavior; and, we have all done foolish things.

No sympathy for voluntarily placing yourself in further jeopardy --- your license was suspended, which means you weren't supposed to be driving, which means if you get caught, you get F---ed!).

You should be greatful --- you got off easy. In any US State, driving (let alone committing another infraction) while under a suspended license is taken as a fairly serious offense (increasing in severity with the seriousness of the underlaying reason for which it was suspended). Anyone who thinks their State doesn't enforce this, better do some research --- they will be surprised!

You chose to accept the risk, now be a man and take the consequences.

I wouldn't live in Cali if someone paid me to. Talk about draconian laws and a confused population. I will grant you, D.C. is no better though.
