When the Toro Rosso, running the same engine as the Ferrari is only 2 thousandths of a second off Ferrari's pace I begin to wonder. Good job to STR and RBR, like boths teams and wish them luck.

Still impressive nonetheless. Newey must really know what he's doing too, it also must help them that they are using virtually identical cars. Can't wait to see them at qualifying in Monaco.

Wait until mid season that RBR should Fly. Newey is the finest Designer in F1 followed by Byrne. Shame that JPM is not in the car.

Not really. They're both F1 cars with millions of dollars of development put into them. It's very possible Ferrari was using some less than optimal setup or fuel load. At the same time, the STR car could really have been going for it. I don't take any indications of a consistently slow team making relatively good times in testing. Way too many variables and undisclosed things. I wish them luck too, but race day is what counts.

He probably wouldn't want to be, or wouldn't perform at him best. If he wasn't happy at a top team like Mclaren, then I don't think he'd have the patience to develop a new car and team. Conversely, DC and Mark seem very motivated and up for the job. DC speculates that the car will show it's true colors next year, same thing Mark said at the start of the season. For this reason, I think DC should be given another year. He's still motivated and competitive, so why not allow him to reap his rewards? After 08, they can make way for a new driver.

Well JPM was at a top team, Williams BMW at the time was a top team. In 2003 if he wasn't so Latin, he should have nailed that championship. His downfall was Monza (Michelin Fiasco) when he finished to Michael. Had he had a team that backed him the same way Ferrari did with Michael, he would have done much better.

You're right about that. My point was more that, by the time he was being talked about being sacked by Mclaren from all the media types, he was sick of F1. It was reported that he received offers from Toyota, Williams and STR after being sacked by Ron. He seemed tired of F1 to me, and you know a team like Toyota wouldn't have had a problem paying him an enourmous salary, look at what they pay Ralf! It took some serious discouragement for him to switch to Nascar.

James, JPM went off emotion too much, kind of like a Latin Mansell, when things were going his way, he would fly. But he always seemed to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder. I still think F1 would benefit from his personality, too bad he will gain ignamoity (SP) in Nascar.

They look exactly like the discs that are on the rear wheels, and no one complained about those. (crosses fingers)

Yeah he definately reminds me of old Nige. I miss him, and I think it's a bit of a waste to see him in Nascar, no offence to Cup fans. There really is no other opportunity in terms of money and freedom(compared to F1 with Ron) than Nascar. I remember watching highlights on Windtunnel when the crew told Montoya to come in and allow some guy to pass him in the pits. Juan responed, "Hell no!" "Hell no!" "You want to do that, get another driver, Hell no!" lmao. Look at Villeneuve, he turned down a multi million dollar offer to drive in the DTM, to struggle for an opportunity in Nascar! Says alot to me.
