Guys - I have a 94 355 with the 2.7 Motronic. In relation to the Idle Control valves - of which I two, 1 for each bank - could someone please tell me if the arrow on the ICV should be pointing up or down (when on the car).

It goes without saying that on my car I have one pointing up and one pointing down. Bloody typical !.

Thanks for any help you can give.

From what I remember it goes from the carb covers down however in the picture it looks like yours have different style ends so that should confirm the direction I gave you. I assume you are refering to number 34 i hope.

It shows air flow from filtered air to intake port, so it should point down.

Thanks for the help Gents. Has enabled me to understand how they do what they do which is never a bad thing.

To my mind the car has always behaved a bit "strangely" drivewise since I've had it - lets see if this change has a positive effect.

    Thanks

It will only make the idle bad.

After doing some work on mine i forgot to tighten the ICV and after a few drives it got very bad at idle.

When I got home i found the problem it was half out so definately sucking air after the MAF. The idle was very bad almost stalling. I would expect you had I bank that was terrible.

It should make a huge differance unless the electronics compensate when there are two ICVs inthe system.

You're bang on Taz - I have just started the car for the first time since addressing this issue and changing the thermostat and ECU temp sensor. Much, much, smoother at idle (for a 2.7), and crisper throttle. Just wish it was summer now rather than minus 6 so I could revel in it LOL !

    Thanks for the help.
