You know, that's an excellent point that I hadn't considered.

As long as Todt is on Ferrari payroll, it extends whatever non-compete he has (dont know if they are enforceable over there) but it also absolutely prohibits him from working with any other team, being an employee of Ferrari. Shuffling him to a board position takes him completely out of the day-to-day, and also allows plausible deniability on him being moved due to an impropriety or from butting heads with Luca.

    Good insight - thanks!

Nope. Luca's term at Conindustria ended and he came back to Ferrari and Jean wanted some more time to enjoy life.

I really do not believe that Todt was forced out. No reason to keep him on the Board in that case. I believe he just wants to enjoy life with his lovely girlfriend and spend some of the bunches of money he has earned over the last few years. He and Luca may have disagreed on some issues, but Luca kept JT in place because he is/was quite good at what he does.

Why do most people on this forum assume the worst? Its like everyone here works for the National Enquirerererer. ER ( just in case I missed one)

    :) hm....

now, without saying anything about the current 'situation', hasn't it always been Ferrari's publicity to "move on to new adventures..", "enjoy retirement" etc. when letting go someone that was butting heads with management or then the old man himself?

Not that it matters one way or the other. JT certainly was the mastermind behind the last decade success at Scuderia Ferrari. It is indeed sad to see him leave or be-left.

Now unless he says something negative in public about Ferrari to which Ferrari will respond very agressively, we will never know the truth...

The no's speak for themselves.....Todt (Napoleon) gelled a team, which produced Ferrari's most successful F1 period in its history.I don't think the guy has a "sparkling" personality, but the combo of Napoleon,Schumacher,Brawn,Byrne,Barrichello, Irvine and Stepney amongst others, all played their part.

To exist in a notoriously fickle environment such as he did, was no mean achievement.

    LOL!!!!

So now we are going back to our "Michael Schumacher Retirement Excuse" file again, eh buddy? Can't you come up with something new? :p

If Todt leaves, Massa won't be far behind.

Massa is represented by J.T.'s son.
    Toro Rosso uses Ferrari engines.
    Toro Rosso is for sale.
    G. Berger (ex Ferrari) is Toro Rosso principle.
Alonso has an eye on Massa's seat.
J.T. now has time to pursue "other interests" but maintains Ferrari connection.
Am I alone on this grassy knoll?

I don't know why you guys want Alonso, he is a a self centered freak. He black mailed McLaren and is someone who would not be good for the team. Luca may think that he is a great guy, but we all know that he is a bad guy. The day he comes to Ferrari is the day I turn F1 off. I really want to see a Kimi and Sebastian Vettel. Massa is a great driver, but he is not consistent. If he want to keep his seat he needs to be a contender in the WDC.

I don't think that anything sinister is going on. Todt would be the last one to blame for Australia. It may be that some of us miss the Machievellian politics of the old days a bit too much.:)

They got confirmed? Hard to imagine this is all coincidental, particularly since Todt had the CEO post only for such a short period of time.
