Spider owners: have you ever had your tonneau cover leave was can old be described as a layer of sandy dust all over your top? Mine does. It would seem to be the inner lining is failing.

I put mine in the dryer to try to agitate it (no heat) and the dryer is covered in the stuff.

Yes. Mine was doing that, too, only it was a black dust. I painstakingly undid enough of the seam (keeping the thread intact) to get my hand through, and tore out all the failing foam, then restitched the seam. It was a PITA, but it doesn't shed any more. IIRC, I had to unstitch the seam in a couple places to be able to reach it all.

Fantastic! I’m glad I’m not the only one. So your cover has no more foam backing?

Common issue. Sounds Messy. Mine is still intact thankfully.

Yes! Mine has just started doing this and covers the black roof in what looks similar to sand. Will have to re-line it I reckon.

I keep getting hit in the eyes when traveling above highway speeds with dust. I attributed it to the vents but maybe it’s this?

Me too. I was blind for a minute the other day. I’m
going to find an upholstery shop to redo it.

If you have spider with the tonneau on, yes. I had the same symptoms. How it gets in the blower I don’t know, but it gets everywhere.

Well damn good to know! I was going to start chasing down HVAC issues! I wonder if it’s the blower or just turbulent air flow moving forward into the cabin

Ouch, I have to replace my top still which takes precedent atm. For that matter what does the forum think of swapping out top colors from stock? I have swaters blu with a black top and I’d love to replace it with navy. Is there a consensus on value impact or is it considered a non issue?

I just replaced my top. About $3k. Half for top and half for labor. Looks like factory. Beautiful job.

I think with a blue car you can get a way with it. It’s not original anyway, who cares.

    Do you think it’s DIY-able? I found a top for ~$1,000

Considering I paid two professionals with decades of experience and it took them days…. probably not but I don’t know your skills.

I converted the top to manual, no part of it is fun.

How can you tell whether a top is original or not?

That’s an in-profess pic. It requires lots of fiddling and adjusting. You leave it out in the sun to warm up and relax. Sound like a nightmare.

Dunno. I’m sure there’s a horse on it somewhere that’s not on the aftermarket top.

Bottom right (passenger) corner of the plastic window should have the Ferrari logo.
