I went Diablo shopping today. 'Saw a nice '97 roadster which really was a bit out of my price range. It was a bear getting in an out of it. The salesman said that many taller guys(I'm 6'3" and 225lbs) have their Lambos modified to accommodate for their size. He said the cost would be about $16K per side. Has anyone here done this? Did the modifications really give you that much more room? Your input would be greatly appreciated, because I'd hate to spent all this for a car that would then only become a garage queen.

I've heard of some professional basketball players getting shortened seat rails. I find it hard to believe that it would cost $16K per side. I'm 6'2" and fit in my Murci no problem.

You should be able to do the job for a bit less.

The Diablo Roadster is actually quite roomy (relatively speaking).

It's a little awkward getting in and out, maybe if you practice a few times you will find a way that works best.

    I'm 6'1" and 215 and think it's roomy compared to my 328.

I don't think you will have any trouble. I'm 6-1 and only 185 but the last diablo I drove is owned by someone that is 6-2 and roughly 215 and we both fit easily in the car.

I went car hunting and sat in a 98 SV. I'm 6'7", so naturally it was a little cramped but it felt like a tight fit to me. The guy showing me the car told me too that they can adjust the seat for taller guys, though he didn't tell me how much it would be. I don't know if 16k per side is "normal", as that does seem high. I was worried about that issue too, but after getting a feel for the car, I must say I had more room than I thought, though I'm not going to say that it was that much more.

Though I'd love to have a roadster, it's a bit out of my price range. I tried their roadster "on for size" because that was the only Diablo they had. I really don't want to spend more than $130K. I'm sure I can get a nice Diablo for that amount, but certainly not a roadster.

Yeah, there are some good cars for that price range, though you are right, roadster are hard to come by. You should PM Roy Cats and see if he can set something up for you.

I am sure that moding the seat for a taller person is not to hard of a job but 16k per side  , what in the world could they be doing for that.

Lamboweb.com....The most valuable site on the internet when it comes to Lamborghinis' (thanks John,) has the proceedure to widen Diablo seats. As for more leg room, that's a little more radical. Comfort is a variable feeling though. When your excited to be sitting in a Lambo for the first time your not thinking about it as much, but after living with it a while discomfort may be more apparent. The distance of your drives and how often you use the car also determines how you tolerate discomfort.

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

    I'm 5' 8", 120Lbs...and fit in my 97.5 VT Roadster just fine....what's the problem? :D

    Seriously

For distance, you could remove the glove box / sub woofer enclosure behind the driver seat. This may give you more travel. For the seat widening?...call Jenny Craig :D

If all goes well, yes. However there is a strong chance I will have to wait a while longer to get it. But I really wanted to see how the car fit first before I decided whether or not I should consider getting one. Now i want one more than ever ('98 or 99 SV in Monterey Blue)!
