I found a gas station that sells higher octane gas near me and was wondering if anyone had any experience using so called "race gas" in the f cars?

I have 97 355 and how little I drive it thought it might be worth it for the better gas. Also, in Denver our Octane is limited to 91 with 10% ethenol all fall and winter.

Also, was is the highest octane we could run in the modern f cars. I have some older Porsches and was wondering about the same thing since I have the cars chipped to handle the 91+ octane.

Last, would this just be a waste of money and risk of causing damage for whatever reason??

    Thanks,

Brent in Denver ready for the snow to finally melt and be able to drive!!!!

Around these parts 91 isn't considered race gas, which in my exp anyway at track days is 100~110. Running that in your 355 won't hurt it but besides the nice fumes those behind you will enjoy it won't do much for you on the street, i.e. wasted money.

Unless you don't mind spending more money than is necessary, you only need run the lowest octane your engine will burn w.out knocking. And that's usu the manfctr's recommended octane.

Most stations around here have 93 at the pump for the super grade---That is what I use with never a problem....

Caution: Race gas is leaded fuel. You will destroy your emisions system if you run real race gas. That said you can get high octane unleaded fuel at certain places. I believe Sunoco has 93 octane and I have seen higher unleaded available at some of the tracks.
