Where is the hottest you’ve ever been? Ok, right now it’s 98 with high humidity due to rain from tropical storm Debby earlier this week. Looking across the parking lot at Publix it looked like there was a fire next door with thick haze & no blue sky to be seen. Forecast gets worse. I hate living here in summer!

Where were you & what were you doing when you were scorched? I was on a family vacation in 1960s in Needles California at 119 deg but at least it was dry heat. Your miserable "this is way too hot" experiences?

With or without humidity? With humidity, around 100 here in Orlando, without humidity, 110 or so in Vegas.

I remember working at a GM dealership in a 12 bay garage with no a/c and two fans. We had a heat wave in August and I remember watching the thermometer rising over 100 degrees in the garage, by the time the end of the day came I remember driving home with the a/c on full the whole way and having chest pains. Note that in my post I stated I watched the thermometer rise because yes in the garage there was a big thermometer on the wall and on this hot day I asked my boss why it was there and he said that is so you know how much to sweat. Gotta love car dealers!

Highest I've seen on my car's digital thermostat was 127ºF, that was getting back in it after being parked.

Last summer's worst day that I remember was 118ºF, and that was the temperature shown while doing 75 on the freeway. Today's high is 113º. My A/C is also broken and I want to die when I need to drive.

Something like 120 F with close to 100% humidity while going through the Panama Canal on my first submarine.

Went topside to grab a burger (we were doing a cookout on the turtleback of our SSBN), but didn't stay very long because my shoes were melting to the deck. Crawled back to the comfort of the engineering spaces basked in the relative cool 80 something degrees...

Oh, Death Valley was hot too, but didn't have a thermometer with me, and it was a dry heat. :)

Vegas in the summer, 110 is pretty normal, the hottest I remember was around 120. When I was a kid my dad had an old Mustang with leather seats and no a/c, putting the windows down didn't really help much.

Purgatory Flats, Utah in the summer of 1980. It was the hottest place in the US the day we were there. Nothing taller than a knee high scrub brush in the area for shade and plenty of dark rock layers for us to map. Poor college students suffering in the heat.

That pic is ground temp measured.

I was in 61° C measured from over 15 feet in the air in Marsa Alam, Egypt. Ground temp? No idea but MUCH hotter.

I know it's artificial but we would wrap hoagies up in foil and bake them in the forging presses. It was not uncommon to see the air temp exceed 170 in the area. The guys that run those are always lanky but would never start anything with them as they are the toughest guys you will find.
