You gotta be kiddin'. I know a guy who is 72 and loves his 458. The other day I pulled alongside a red one and I swear the driver was at least 80.

If anything 'la bella machina' will help keep you fit, interested, your blood boiling, and will cost less than a 25 year old mistress. :)

It strikes a pleasant cord does it not? No matter what the age, the "dream" lives. Best

If you're healthy, age is meaningless. "Live the life you deserve."

I am 65 years old also. I own a 458 now and did own a 360 and a F430 when they were current.

I would recommend you drive one before you buy it. The pros are the car looks and It sounds wonderful. I do not like any paddle shifer transmissions but the 458 is the best, quick and snooth.

The cons in my view is no manual and the car handles more like a sporty car not a world class sport car. The older cars had a taut exciting feel to them that the 458 is lacking.

It has been reliable so far. To be honest I like the Audi 8 with the 10 cylinder Engine better.

THE ZR1 CORVETTE is more powerful and handles as well maybe better.

Good luck on what you buy.

Get it man. Put your name on the list. An allocation will come up sooner than you think from somebody who backs out when their time comes up. Or, get one which is available now. If you can swing it, I can't think of one reason why not!

I was really close to getting a R8 V10 instead of my California which is on order. Cons to me were the 2 seats (I have kids 2 and 4 that I want to take with me), poor single clutch auto. I really wanted a 458, but again, only 2 seats.

I am gonna pay my Cali off and likely get a 458 or the replacement for it in 4-5 years. Keep the California.

Oh, and as a physician, Phil there is no medical reason why your age would impair driving the 458... :)

Put your name on the list and enjoy the 360 until then. I agree that the Ferrari experience is better topless.

I'm 62, and will relinquish ownership the day I die. Someone, yet unknown, will inherit a Ferrari.

Currently looking three or four years down the road to a 360 or 550 for the last one. With the 330 2+2 and the 308, that will make for a good sampling of three distinct eras.

Dealer has all its slots sold until then. Ferrari doesn't make enough cars to satisfy demand.

Assume I can buy a "pre-owned" spider equipped pretty much like I want it.

A non problem. Do what others often do. Pick up a nice Berlinetta off a floor somewhere and order your Spyder the way you want. When it comes in, sell off your Berlinetta.

    I already own a gorgeous 360 F1 Spider.

    Life is good.
Life is better driving a Ferrari...with the top down.*

Dude, order the frickin' car. It makes no difference what age you are. My dream is to be driving my Ferrari at 75, in poor health, and wrap myself around a tree. At least I will have gone with a smile on my face.........

I agree with the a previous post to consider a 16M...lighter, better handling and a more visceral car than the 458..and its a spider and it will hold its value far better than any 458...

PhilNotHill, I have virtually the identical 360 spider that you have, down to the 3 pedals and modular wheels.

I've decided to keep the 360 spider and get a 458 coupe. Best of both.

Spend the money and go for it! Don't save a penny for your kids - spend their inheritance now and enjoy life to its fullest. Bad kids don't deserve inheritance; good kids don't need inheritance.

That's a great combo. I've thought of adding a 360 spider as well.
