IMO some of these people are just trying to make their investment stand out as "one of one". They don't care about how they look as long as they look like the only factory version done "this way".

If you live in Dubai you don't want your LaFerrari looking like the other 10 LaFerrari's on your street.

IMO these requirements are the only thing keeping Ferrari from becoming just another run of the mill mass production car company.

Old Lamborghini are beautiful but the newer ones have just become tasteless, partly due to the “personalizations” of their current customer base.

Any time I read a for sale ad they says ‘rare color combo’ I think sure. That’s because nobody else wanted it.

I think I recall reading years ago that Ettore Bugatti liked to have dinner with prospective customers before agreeing to sell them a car. If they didn’t meet his standards for manners and deportment, no car for you.

The need to be seen or not to be seen is one of the basic human characteristics since we were apes, and in my opinion most Ferrari owners belong to the group of those who like to be seen.
If your desire to be seen and to be at the centre of the hype is exhaggerated, you end up painting your car like those in the pictures.
The fact that they may look crap to many, or that they lack “taste”, is totally secondary for the owner’s objective.

But the point of this news for me is that on one side Ferrari today makes SUVs, supposedly fashion apparel, theme parks and public trading - winning F1 or designing beautiful cars seems not a priority anymore - in one word is getting revenues in every legally possible way, and then one day the CEO wakes up and realizes that the brand, the reputation, and the customer base are totally messed up by 10 years of corporate management done by people without any heart, any true passion in the cars or the brand, but just paid to raise the stocks by another dollar, and guesses that the problem is with the eccentric liveries?

In my opinion the problem is that Ferrari has lost track, has forgotten the basics, because they simply have become another ordinary extravaganza business.

Restart winning F1, restart making classy sportscars that are more beautiful in red like an Alfa 8C Competizione, and the customers will queue for them as they ever did, and will choose red because red is again the color of the winning cars.

Instead today red is the color of the losing cars, to the point that many want to mask the cars to the point of camuflage: “I want a Ferrari and I crave to be seen, but I don’t want the others to understand I drive such a miserable motorsport brand”.

    Just my opinion.

    Bye bye,

    Nic

Just a second. Sure, most of the cars you posted might just be people wanting attention, but that 355 is a piece of legitimate art (Ton Pret), and it even made the cover of Cavallino. I quite like it, others may not, which is fair enough.

Ah, is it? Personally, I did not fancy it even if It reminded me the BMW 850 by David Hockney - and I am a modern art enthusiast.
Maybe a sign that the same object without a story or a name might fall down to its basic appeal?

Value derived from art is subjective. Personally, I don't care for any of them but who cares what I think?

None of those are particularly rare cars anyway and most (all?) are simple wraps. If makes the owners happy, good for them.

Ironically there is an entire class of car like this in Japan known as "itasha" (痛車) which translates to "cringey". This just the Western version of that.

Not just owners. Ferrari did it to themselves with the AssetoFiorano livery on cars like 296
