Anyone know what it is and where to get one? I have torx security bits, but it looks like an allen key with a hole in it, perhaps. Thanks.

You need a security torx set. It's regular torx drivers, but with a hole in the tip. Go to froogle and search "security torx", you'll find plenty available.

Why are you removing the wheel?

I have a set of security torx and they did not work. I want to see if I can fabricate a spacer to move the wheel away from the dash. I love the car, but unlike my other cars, only an orangutan could be comfortable with the extended arm driving position.

It really looks like a security allen - anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Yes, there are security versions of allen heads. Dennis is right in that most of the time a Torx bit will also work in their place, but if you need real torque you need the real thing. I have this set which includes some allen security heads. Don't know if they're metric or SAE:

Interesting. I did use a security torx, and it worked fine. And I removed the airbag wheel and installed a Challenge spacer to get the wheel closer to me, as I'm tall and with the seat reclined so I fit, it was a stretch to the wheel and did not allow full lock with hands at 9 and 3. :) For pics and a description, search the archives (old archives?). I now use a MOMO wheel. I suppose you could get a spacer made that allows you to retain the airbag wheel, but that would greatly affect the safety and efficacy of the airbag.

OK, what's a challenge spacer, how much does it move the wheel and where can I get one? Oh, and how much?

Check out the archives - I've written a couple of detailed threads on this topic. A Challenge spacer is one that dealers had made up by a machine shop to adapt the four bolt pattern for the airbag wheel to the six bolt MOMO pattern. The length varied from driver to driver, usually 4"-6". You can have one made up yourself. I got mine from a shop that had a bunch made, think he might have one left, not sure. Again, all in the archives.
