430 Toolkit Case Hinges Broken - DIY Fix?

Hey Gang,

Next up on the list of to-do's is to fix the toolkit case hinges - the little strips have all given up the ghost and broken. Has anyone done a DIY fix as I don't want to buy a new/used toolkit just to get the case?

I couldn't find anything on google or searching here, but maybe I wasn't using the right word combo...hoping someone has already figured out the easy way to fix this (short of never opening the toolkit case).

It's slightly thicker than the OE stuff and obviously way wider, I plan to cut it down to the loose diamond shape of the factory hinge and give it go...can't go wrong for $20 shipped.

 

I had some time today to give it a go with that product I found, used my 3d printer trimming pliers and a leather hole punch to make some pretty ugly hinges for an alpha version, works quite well actually:

I'll make a prettier version of these that more closely align with the factory shape as the next rainy day project.

 

Small update, my brother in law has a family-owned die manufacturing company, so he CNC'd me a die to punch out the factory shape hinges out of that poly product I found:

Need to rig something up in my arbor press but then I'll have some much more aesthetically pleasing hinges.
