Since i have had no luck with any kind of response on the Ferrari Parts and Collectables i will ask here. Every time i get pictures of items for sale from "an expert" it never matches the "next expert"! Can anyone tell me who what or where i can find DEFINITIVE, CLEAR CUT INFORMATION AND PICTURES (NOT THE DIAGRAMS) on a complete original Daytona tool kit so i actually know what to look for.

    Thanks Neil

Sir, with all due respect, in the past 10+ years I've had opportunity to restore and/or extensively work on dozen or so Daytonas, including every variety of their components & currently working on three examples.
I wouldn't consider myself "an expert", but combined with 25+ year general restoration "career" has allowed me some experience, including fair amount of research & study (both still on-going and likely never-ending) on them and based on what I've learned so far I would venture a guess that finding a DEFINITIVE answer to your quest is next to impossible.
As far as I've learned (so far), debate over this has been raging for decades and will likely never produce an answer that will satisfy every possibility, especially when more than one tool kit variation having been originally available or provided(?) during the 4+ years Daytona was in production.
There were numerous (big & small) changes/variations on the cars themselves and their components during all this. Why would a "secondary" item like a tool kit with array of "inexpensive" bits supplied by variety vendors be different ?

First of all i wouldn't say that they are inexpensive bits: quite to the contrary. Yes there were variations on the tool kit mainly the roll to the suitcase. On the earlier ones there were variations on the wrenches as well. When you consider that a simple pliers can cost up to $1500 dollars originality becomes important . If you would like i will send you the extremes and the ludicrous adventures that have come in my direction without naming names.

Neil : forgive me but it seems you don't want to understand that there is no definitive

There is no photographic record of the contents of each car's toolkit from the build

You can now accept there are variations but they are probably completely random according to what came from the supplier and was at the front of the rack on the day it was grabbed

And thats why I believe all your threads demanding certainty are unsuccessful

I totally understand. Maybe i can put it another way...how does one know that what they are purchasing is "NOT" bogus and that you are not getting abused: or doesn't it matter?

My reference to "inexpensive" wasn't for their perceived market value of today but merely their quality which doesn't appear having been high priority when factory was sourcing some basic tools and spare "bits" to be included with the car.
Most of the standard hand tools originally included in the (Daytona) kits could be compared to "Harbor Freight" or some auto parts/home improvement store chains "House brands" stuff and IMO, just because todays market perceives the bespoke pliers to be valued at +/- $1500 doesn't make them any better or even useful.
Do they matter ? Well, that again is just a matter of opinion...

When a car is judged how does the accuracy of the tools affect the anything?

Well, IMO again, it depends on ... specific venues judging criteria/rules, knowledge/opinion/perception of an individual judge or team, etc, etc, etc, ...
FCA for example offers some "guidelines" regarding this and many other issues considered in their "sanctioned" judged events.
