Can you name the top ten Supercars of all time? Must be based on driving characteristics that make the car one of the best sports cars in the world.
    Perimeters:

Included: cars manufactured from 1970 and up (modern) and that were limited production runs.

Excluded: cars with automatic or electrohydraulic manual transmissions and cars with less than 385 hp.

    Me:

    1) McLaren F1

    2) Ferrari F50

    3) Ferrari F40

    4) Ferrari 288 GTO

    5) Porsche Carrera GT

    6) Porsche 959

    7) Pagoni Zonda

    8) Lamborghini Miura SV

    9) Koenigsegg CCX

    10) Lamborghini Diablo SE30

Excellent list, but I would have included the Enzo over the Koenigsegg CCX. I would IMHO also pick the FORD GT over the Diablo. Other than that, perfect choices.

I don't hold to your parameters. To me the Top 10 Supercars of all time cannot be limited to post-1970.

These ten supercars were the among the ultimate, most desired, best performing driving machines at their moment in time. Each one is significant because it made a styling statement, or performance leap compared to the lesser cars on the road with them.

    10. 1912 Stutz Bearcat

    9. 1955 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing

    5. Lamborghini Countach

    4. Ferrari 288 GTO

Perhaps another notable inclusion could be the Diablo GT and perhaps more controversially the Monteverdi Hai(well perhaps not seeing as only 2 were made)

hmm....these lists are always a catch-22, there are so many variables, and broad in the sense of personal ideas of what constitutes a "super car" or a "good handling" car.....heavy supercars are not necessarily good handling cars...and a supercar need not necessarily be a hypercar....

.....and while keeping list to real street cars rather then race models.....a list of cars since 1970 being "good handling" and "supercar" is actually tough to do, so a list will have mostly more modern cars that have the handling and power-to-weight ratio to be a supercar

to me good handling a car needs to be no more then about 3000lbs, and have a good power-to-weight ratio.....handling that makes up for an over or under powered chassis...

    ....here's my personal favorites that fall into both 'supercar' and 'good handling', listed in no particular order;

    - mclaren f1
    - ferrari f40
    - ferrari f430 scuderia
    - pagani zonda r clubsport
    - porsche carrera gt
    - 997 porsche gt3 rs
    - lotus exige s(260)
    - mitsubishi lancer EVO ix (9) MR / FQ360
    - c6 corvette z06 carbon edition
    - 1974 porsche 911 rs 3.0L

    4) Ferrari 288 GTO

    5) Porsche Carrera GT

    6) Veyron

    7) Pagoni Zonda F

    8) Lamborghini Miura SV

    9) McLaren Mercedes SLR (not the 722)

    10) Lamborghini Diablo (any will do)

    -------------------

A special mention also goes to the Lancia Delta S4, which I almost put in for the Veyron.

    1) Ferrari FXX Evoluzione (road legalised)
    2) Ferrari Enzo
    3) Maserati MC12
    4) Ferrari F50
    5) Pagani Zonda F
    6) Lamborghini Murcielago SV
    7) Porsche Carrera GT
    8) Lamborghini Diablo GT
    9) Ferrari F40
    10) Can't think of anything...

PS: They Veyron is a stupid dinosaur that needs 8000cc and 4 turbos to move its 2 tons around; what a disgrace! The F1 was good but got surpassed by cars with similar philosophy but superior execution (i.e. Enzo).

i'm a huge Ferrari fan.....but how is it you think the mclaren F1 was surpassed by the Enzo in performance or execution exactly? ...the F1 was YEARS ahead of the Enzo, lower weight, slightly more power, higher top speed, etc, etc.

Ford GT is not a supercar. Neither is the countach. Or the base Diablo. Or the miura. They are exotics.

I am afraid you are wrong. They both had a weight of 1250 kg, the Enzo had some 50 more HP and in the R&T test, it obliterated the F1*!!! Somehow McLaren foolled people into believing otherwise... We are talking about the standard, road versions. If one is inclined to bring the F1 LM into this, I will have to bring the FXX which was the Ferrari equivalent!

    *"Unbelievable.
The Enzo has just recorded the best Road & Track acceleration run ever for a road car. Its 0-60-mph run equals the fastest time logged just a month ago by the all-American Saleen S7. And its quarter-mile time and speed pulverize the mighty McLaren F1's numbers of 11.6 sec. traveling at a mere 125 mph past the quarter-mile mark. Wow!"

first, mind manners when on the forum....second, the mclaren F1 is about 500lbs (2513lbs vs 3010lbs) lighter then a Ferrari Enzo, it's acceleration and speed numbers are well known to surpass the Enzo, and the comment of better "superior execution" is also wrong, ask anyone knowledgeable, the F1 is built to exacting standards and it shows

I really don't get your irritation about my manners. I was not being impolite or sarcastic.

Secondly, the link I privided proves that the Enzo was indeed faster. A reputable magazine clocked the Enzo going a lot quicker than the F1.

Most did not read the restrictions:
    Parameters:
Included: cars manufactured from 1970 and up (modern) and that were limited production runs.

Excluded: cars with automatic or electrohydraulic manual transmissions and cars with less than 385 hp.

So cars like the Enzo, Bugatti, Countach, Scud, Testarossa, 250 GTO, 275 GTB etc... do not qualify. We are talking a driver's car with a manual trans produced after 1970 and very limited runs like an F40 or CGT etc...

Please stick to the subject matter...

BTW on my list I meant the Miura SV JOTA not the regular SV...
