BBI, like a fine wine on he right day and right road nothing like it. Plus after 30 years part of my psyche, a great ferrari motor to boot, and art to look at.

E46 M3. First started to earn, first new car. Solid as day it was new, modern, no screen, stick and great/epic motor. Derestricted and with proper fueling/timing bit no other mods, will easily pull past 180 and keep going.

19 Alfa Gulia. Most of what makes the e46 good(turbo motor not inspiring but tons of tq) but way better steering and suspension, modern useable can go to supermarket or road trip, subtle but still has looks, probably the best steering/front end of any modern. Dos it all, fast comfy and reactive.

2011 NA lotus elise, Simply the perfect sportscar, if you only ever had one of these you will have missed nothing in terms of driving fun and experience, will set a faster pace on backroads than anything else due to size and immediacy, plus its easily tracked. The perfect balance of forces. The car id part with last.

2017 exige v6 cup, the giant killer, t. Motor sounds at least as good as a ferrari v12, track pace similar to a new Gt3. No systems to flatter the driver or fix your problems, its all you, including the stick. That classic 60s prototype feel on track, as close as you can get to a single seater without being exposed

I’ll take the liberty of making this the top 5 fun cars I’ve owned — because I have only 1 or 2 at a time.

    In no particular order:

93 Porsche 964 C2 coupe. Nice torquey engine, and it sounds like a mechanical apocalypse when revved. I had a. 993, but the 964 is definitely louder and feels old school. Build quality like Rolex — I’m already happy when I open the door. Perfect size, with big gauges and the windscreen right before your nose. Porsche should have kept 911s this size. Slate grey is a classic and scarce color — channels my inner McQueen (OK very inner…)

87 Ferrari 328 GTS. Is there a better view than over those flowing front fenders? Iconic, graceful car, gated shifter, V8 behind your head. Mine was black metallic, which was unusual but elegant. Best steering wheel in any car I’ve owned, and the performance limits were actually usable in real life.

56 Porsche 356A Speedster. Absolutely the most mechanical feeling car I’ve driven, with iconic everything — windscreen, seats, steel dash, banjo wheel, baby moon hubcaps. Every time I stopped, people asked if it was a real one. It was. Not a fast car, but it feels fast.

81 Fiat X1/9. Back when I was a broke high school student, this was the coolest car on the planet. Veglia gauges with a reverse spinning tach, square shift knob and mid-engine with side vents. Pop-up headlights! That worked! My first sports car.

92 VW Corrado VR6. Not really a car I loved, but the power back in 1992 was insane. I could spin the wheels on a VW! The interior had leather everything, my first nicely trimmed car. Big BBS alloys, active rear spoiler like on a 911. It was a 944-killer back in the day. Quality was dicey, but did I mention the power…

    Also OWNED, and in order:

    1. 1999 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster (own currently 10 years) – Mid-mounted roaring V-12 inches from your noggin with a click-clack gated manual transmission. On a nice day with the top off, it is motoring nirvana. The last hand built Lamborghini and the last pre-Audi year.

Rediculously undervalued for a long time (11-12 years ago, finding a rough one under $100k was easy). 1999 was the first and only year of an extensive facelift, and only 142 were built worldwide. Equivalent Ferraris are multi-million dollar cars.

    2. 2005 Ford GT (Own currently 4 years) – ICON, IMO the best drivers car an American car company ever built. Huge devoted following, which is why the production of 4,038 cars seems much less. Mine is a driver level car with 33k miles, a couple of minor stories, and a butt-load of modifications. Every time I drive it, I marvel that mid 2000s Ford could build something like this. Does everything well, even has a good amount of interior room.

    3. 2001 Porsche Turbo – Enjoyed this for 8 years and 55k miles. Underrated in terms of performance expandability. Put a 1 bar tune in it and an open exhaust for $2,000…stupid cheap for 100 net HP. Also added coilovers to get that power to the pavement.

    4. 2023 Jeep Wrangler 392 (own currently 1 year) – This thing is a laugh a minute when hitting the go pedal. A Wrangler should not be this fast or sound this good. And has a surprisingly good ride wand well suited for DD service. And the 1 button electric convertible top makes this the most flexible vehicle on the road today.

    5. 2000 Corvette convertible & 1997 Camaro convertible pace-car. Both had manual transmissions and V-8s…..both inexpensive and fun to drive. Good memories.

30 years of ownership says a lot.

The first owner of my 964 had it 28 years. That made my “buy” decision very easy. No later models tempted him. I’m feeling the same way. Would be hard to part with her.

I'm just flirting with tthe porche fold, Neighbour gave me her 996 cab t roll around in. there's a lot to be said for a car where all the good bits work as they should, and the earlier cars are really not too big. Just getting used to the weight distribution and the feel of the front end. Theyre really their own thing.

Lottery winner I would tend towards the new ruff CTr, seems like the type of car, which if you only had one, it would cover all the bases and then some.
