Seriously, Wasn't it not to long ago it was in the very low 4's???? UNBELEIVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEVER thought they'd get sub 4's. How do they keep traction!!!!!! I'm just shocked!

When Scott Kalitta died last year NHRA went to 1000 feet. 1/4 mile is gone until they find new saftey measures.

Dale Armstrong was Kenny Bernstein's crew chief for years and I asked him once about his life accomplishments.
Dale brought out a box with some old spark plugs and I thought, ya so what, Dale said "what does it say on the box", it had 301.7 written on it. The plugs it turns out were from the first 300mph run in history.

Dale said Eddie Hill beat them into the 4's and they got 300. He felt that no one would ever make the 3's or 400mph, nothing inbetween mattered.

Antron Brown won the TF class yesterday with a 318 MPH run. To quote him, that car was really honkin'.

That Ron Capps/Del Worsham race was great to watch too. Listening to Capps recount the last time they wound up in the finals together was great, as they had gone out late together the night before to see a Social Distortion concert and were eating Taco Bell on the hood of the rental car way past midnight.

John Force doesn't pull any punches about how his entire 4 car team was beat before the semi-finals. They all got whupped.

I was at Texas Motorplex when Eddie Hill broke the 5 second barrier.....so yes, it's getting nuts. What kills me is the turbo LSX and Mustang crowds are getting into the 6's with cars they could almost drive on the street.

    Traction....here ya go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTLyYFcv4AQ

What amazes me is that with only 1000 feet to get up to max speed, they still manage to top 300 MPH!

If they were going 1/4 mile, I think top E.T.s would still be in the 4.40 to 4.50 range.

The quarter mile record for top fuel cars IS something like 4.42 at 328mph.

Back in the 70s we ran in the 4s with rocket dragsters when Top Fuel was still in the low 6s. Dave Anderson drove the Pollution Packer car to 344 mph in 4.62 seconds at the US Nationals way back in 1973.

This is still the highest recorded speed at an NHRA national event.

It is amazing to me that wheel driven cars have caught up.
