Saw the Top Gear £10k Italian Supercar Challenge episode yesterday and was quite amazed. I never realized any of these beauties (ok, I didn't consider them beautiful just a few years ago, but things have changed in the last year) could be found at that price, regardless of flaws (short of total demolition). Where on earth would you look for these restoration projects? And is there any place you could find some sort of regularly updated price guide for F-cars (in varying need of restoration)?
Sorry, that yellow GT4 just made me want to save up for a restoration project just for the joy of working on it in my garage and starting the engine from time to time...

FYI, Richard Hammond kept the yellow Dino and restored it. James May's Lambo was sold to a specialist, restored and sold and the Maserati was sold to a breakers for parts.

Check out Sports Car Market magazine -- should be in a major bookstore, at least if you live in the States. That will give you an idea of price and auction activity.

For project cars, check Hemmings -- although common wisdom is you'll lose your shirt trying to bring any of these back from the dead.

Classic Driver also has a good international listing of exotics, as well as Porsche/Mercedes/etc.

None of the cars you mentioned are expensive in good condition, so my recommendation would be just to get a good one to start. I know of a great restored Uracco that sold recently in San Diego, and the price was about what you'd pay for a nice 308 QV (at least the previous transaction price was...)

Anybody spot the 8-track player and the 8-track tape? Wow, that thing must not have been used since the 70's!

They're likely breaking the car because Clarkson apparently ruined it by carrying on driving it even after it was obvious something was seriously wrong deep down inside the engine. Had the cars all finished working properly it wouldn't have told the story Top Gear had scripted. He did the same thing on an episode about buying cheap Porsches. Jeremy kept on driving a 928 after it burst a coolant hose. It lost all it's coolant, overheated and they kept on going which again ruined the engine. Made for a much more entertaining show with the car clattering and belching black smoke.

I don't mean the Merak I mean the Ferrari 330GT in the other link I posted. I would think that car is worth a tad more than 10k sterling
