Top Gear is gone? Will you miss it?

"Gone" as in the season is over, or as in cancelled?

 

Season is over. Back in fall. They only had 6 episodes this season, though.

Stop scaring the **** out of me like that. There is no "gone" yet. Just a season pause as usual after 6-12 episodes. I could watch Top Gear all day and never get tired. But they always come stronger back every new season.

Of course it will be missed, how many TV shows do you know about that draws over 300.000.000 viewers every time world wide except mega sports events? Exactly.

the unique humor of Top Gear is one of the things i enjoy so much about it.

our version will certainly suck.

i think Jay Leno would be the only "good guy" we could have for such a show, but he said "no" to the offer.

When you said gone I was really scared. Phew. I will miss it, and cannot wait for it to come back. I'll be living in Spain during the fall, anyone knows if it airs there?

Well here they will broadcast the Australian version of TG. So it will be very very good (ahum). And I'm looking forward to the redicilous discussions about a new Holden or Ford "Ute". And of course the normal passenger Holden or Ford cars, which mostly are designed in Europe (no offence to Aussies).

 

People who were in the audience said it was good. Atleast watch one episode before you say it sucks.

Adam Corolla was on Leno the other week and he is exactly like Clarkson.

The first season of 'new' Top Gear was awkward, so I would think this first season of US Top Gear will be a bit awkward. I'd say season two it will be better.

 

No worries. The show returns back in October, I believe for hopefully 6-10 more episodes.

No matter when it comes back, the answer is yes. My girlfriend, I and practically most folk i know love the show. Its that once a week time when we know we will be enjoying ourselves for sure. If that is true about only 6 episodes then I would believe it, it felt like less.

The problem is you don't want anyone "exactly like Clarkson" because then it's just a copy and people will always be saying "he's copying Clarkson". They need their own thing done their own way. That show has a very rare chemistry. Clarkson is just enough of a snob to pull off what he does - something I noticed when he had Simon Cowell (a more epic snob) on the show. He sparred with him pretty well. I don't see Adam Corolla in that role.

I will give it a chance before I make any judgments.

The "new" episodes that are airing on BBC America are from like 2 seasons ago. Like last night, they test drove the new 3 series. Which has been out for a while now.

 

They throw in odd episodes from different seasons as well so it's not in order. I don't see why they can't just air the current ones that are being shown on the BBC it would make it so much easier than downloading the new episodes.

My biggest fear with the American Top Gear is that sponsors are going to get a hold of the show and they're going to try and tie in too much advertising and the presenters won't be able to say that a car that they are reviewing sucks like they do on the British version.

 

Yea, it's wierd. It would make more sense to just air them.

I hope they don't do that. But this is america, and no feelings can get hurt.

 

See if they didn't have someone like Clarkson on either Top Gear Australia or Top Gear America, true Top Gear fans would cry fowl. So Corolla isnt Clarkson, but from what he was like on Leno he can be controversial and obnoxious like Clarkson.

 

I'm not that fussed with the whole Top Gear US thing. Go for it and enjoy it, the more the merrier. Replicating the presenters shouldnt be such an issue, just add humour and crazyness and it should work. Leno is cool and I would love to see him produce a show, his videos are great!

Reason: Even though the show is gone for a while, Top Gear always comes back stronger and better. I can't wait to see it though.

Hopefully Top Gear US is decent. Instead of *****ing about gas mileage and SUVs the whole time

 

In keeping in theme with the original top gear, they should do things to annoy the PC crowd and see how they react. Sort of like when Clarkson and team treked across the South and wrote all those awesome things on their beaters and almost were killed by the rednecks in Alabama. LMAO!

That would be a riot of laughter.

 

I often rent a friends house in Spain which has most of the English channels including BBC2.

That episode where Clarkson came to the US was just amazing. It was just hilarious.
