Just getting excited for the next season coming up very soon and have been thinking over the past great episodes. Love the CS versus GT3RS comparison. The review of the Scud was great. The bit where they take the supercars on a road trip (and get stuck in the garage). The two floating car challenges were hilarious. Personally I think the interviews with the stars slows the show down so it wouldn't be any one of those segments. But mine... Might be shooting fish in a barrel, but my fav is probably "the best driving road in the world" segment. I've seen it so many times. Just so well done when they find the road. If you had to pick a single segment, what is your favorite?
"Worlds best driving road" That's what life's about. (Feautered cars: Aston V8 Vantage race car, 997 GT3 RS & Gallardo Superleggera) The second favorite bit: Last bit of the 13th season: Aston Martin V12 Vantage "The End of Supercars" Both with EPIC scenes, music and landscapes. Both bits connected with me 100%. Nothing better than road trips across Europe with car nuts, and nothing scarier than more and more envoireMENTAL requirements.
In no perticular order: The road trip to Bonnevile The AM V12 "end of all supercars" Race to London from Italy in the Veyron Arctic special Vietnam special Botswana Special The bit where they try to make their own Evo X starting with a Renault Avantime And probably alot more too.
Obviously, there are lots of good segments and episodes, but there are three full episodes that I can watch over and over again in their entirety: Series 10, Episode 8: 24-hour race of Silverstone. The Top Gear crew converts a 3-series BMW diesel into a race car and enters the event, alongside teams that do this for a living. Series 12, Episode 12: Vietnam special. Jeremy hates motorcycles, yet he has to drive one across Vietnam. Series 13, Episode 1: The race between train, car, and motorcycle ... before motorways were built. I like this episode most for the photography which is just spectacular. Finally, the winter olympics episode, where they jump a rocket-powered Mini off a ski ramp. I don't remember which series/episode that was in.
The drag race between the Veyron and the Eurofighter Typhoon. Hammond went a mile down the runway turned around and came back. The Typhoon went a mile straight up and back down and still beat him.
The BMW 3-series Diesel 24H race must be a third place on the top 3 list for me! Forgot about that one... You really feel what they are going through.
When they took the Bugatti to top speed at the VW test track. It was so well put together to add the thrill of getting to those speeds. Reminded me of hitting 155/160 in my Crossfire, granted it's not as fast as the Bugatti, but still it was thrilling none-the-less.
I agree for a single segment, Captain Slow in the Veyron is tough to beat. When people ask me what is Top Gear that is the clip I send them. For a comparison between cars, the 10k exotics (Uracco, 308GT4, Merak) is my favorite. For a complete "Theme" episode I also like the Vietnam motorcycle show but the Miami to New Orleans remains my favorite. The Lamborghini episode is also good.
the race across the southeast was hilarious (the Stig's American cousin ) Cpt. Slow in the Veyron almost, almost made me kinda like the Veyron for a few minutes The train vs XK120 vs Vincent race across England was cool, love the old engineering car vs boat vs public transit across London was probably the most "real world" of the "races"
I could watch the race across London a thousand times, and the Bonneville trip is one of the funniest. I like all the cheap car challenges, the Porsche one especially.
The 10k Italian Mid-engined Supercar Challenge... it's just awesome - I love the bit where Hammond's 308 GT4 is motoring along to "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" by the Police. The Botswana Special is also very good. All the best, Andrew.
Richard Hammond getting hypnotized, Jeremy crashing into his "porsche" All of the soccer matches Space Shuttle Amphibious cars Polar Special And most recently, Jay Leno's McLaren F1 story Really though I like almost every challenge, race, and so on. . . even the one in the ugly porsche sedan vs the royal mail was pretty cool.
Oh boy.... CS vs. GT3 RS Vanquish vs. 575 ("The 575's flappy paddle gearbox IS better than the Vanquish's, but that's like saying rabies is better than botchullism...) Best Driving Road Zonda, 430 Ford GT in France 612 Race 10k Italian cars Koenigsegg Review. One of their first (any only?) Enzo reviews ( Nick Mason Enzo) I definitely like more segments than dislike though!
Surprised no one's mentioned the road trip across America in the Camaro, Caddy, and Ford Pick-up. I LOVED that special, along with the amphibious cars, world's greatest driving road, porsche for under 1500, italian supercar for under 10k challenges.
This is soooo difficult... But recently it`s got be "the best road". If oldtimers are included, Tiff testing Mc Laren or possebly a piece from 1994 that showed how quick BTCC-drivers would be in a standardversion of their rarcecars. They weren`t slow...
Its a great show, I love Jeremy in the ZR1 in USA when he says " You just aren't prepared for the sheer ferocity of it " & when he's at Bonneville and he quotes Shakespeare "Cry Havoc and let loose the dogs of war" I bought the Top Gear soundtrack CD and have I LIKE THE WAY YOU MOVE on my ipod I dedicated that song to all my cars
The funniest bit of that episode in particular was when Clarkson got up early in the morning, started up the winnebago RV and gets some practise in...with James on the bog and Hammond still asleep, with James shouting out 'CLARKSON!!! I know its you you immature child!'
