In the recent Vanquish/575 test the 575 time was referred to as being one of the wettest days in history, so the time is not really relavent. The time in this second 575 test was a 1.26, faster than the GT3 and Corvette, not much slower than the Gallardo.

    I can't believe 3-5 are on there.

I can't believe the Koenigesegg and Zonda were outdone by the Ford GT.

What I find interesting is the 911 Turbo's times. I remember this thing being compared favourably (in CAR's PCOTY for example) to the stock 360 because it had more torque (turbo) and 4WD, but then I saw them both tested by R&T I think it was, and Steve Millen lapped 3 SECONDS faster in the 360! Even the C5 Vette was faster than the 911Turbo. Interesting to see the 360CS so much faster than a Gallardo, the F430 should really punish it. No wonder they are contemplating more power. At the end of the day, Ferrari's tend to have smaller engines, skinnier tires, no turbos and no 4WD relative to their competition, all of which would seem to be disadvantages but they kick ass on lap times. Ferrari must be doing something right.

Gotta take it for what it is: Times on their own homebrewn "track" on an old airfield in very varying conditions (english weather). I like TopGear, but since it's not done back-to-back the numbers aren't really worth much.

Sounds like a good explanation. They need to put test notes in this list.

The 911 turbo (996tt?) driver would had to have been asleep at the wheel to place that far back.

I don't think that is a representative time.

Agreed. The wet/dry conditions make huge differences. CSL Viper times were in the wet and I suspect the turbo time as well.

You guys must understand that many of those times are from tests in the rain. You can't test all of those cars under the exact same conditions but to test some on a dry track and some in the rain makes no sense. I have the video of their SRT-10 Viper test and it was pouring rain. A Viper on the street in the rain is a handfull. I could only imagine how tough it would be trying to post a quick time on a road course in the rain.

    Those numbers are flawed ...

    Technically....
The 2004 Renault F1 car of Fernando Alonso is the fastest car that went around the track. (driven by the Stig)
    59 sec

So the Enzo is 20 secs slower than the F1 car.

The video of the Renault F1 car could be found over here:

Even if their tests aren't very scientic, I still find them very entertaining. I think the lap times shouldn't be recorded if it's in the wet though

    Peter,

Stig is Stig Bloomquist. A former world class (and several times WRC champion) rally driver from Sweden who raced everything from little 16v Saabs to the awesome Group B Audi's. I think he has also won Pikes Peak. He is now in his 50's I believe but still one hell of a driver.

Are you sure about that? They used to have one stig, who wore a black helmet, but he mysteriously disappeared and was replaced with a new stig in a white helmet. that would be quite a coincidence if both of these guys had the name "stig"!! is it him? has it always been the same guy?

The first (black) Stig's name was Perry McCarthy.
His disappearance wasn't that mysterious - he drove a nitrous-boosted Jag off an aircraft carrier, remember? :)

Neither of the Stigs were ever any relation to Stig Blomqvist.

This (white) Stig is either Johnny Herbert or Ben Collins, IMO (Ben Collins is the guy who drove the Mercedes that the other guy parachuted into a while back).

Here's another question to join the "Who is The Stig" one - Why Stig?
