Rumors have been going around in different forums, I'm unsure whether it's substainiated by previews of the upcoming Top Gear but, they are supposed to be testing the Ferrari Enzo on their test track. Now we can have truly comparable times to the Enzo and the Carrera GT!

I will post a link to the video for download when/if it becomes available.

In the mean time, which do you think will be faster?

The Ferrari Enzo or the Porsche Carrera GT?

i am completely sure that there is an episode of top gear with the enzo.
But i have a feeling that the enzo is under half a second faster than the porsche, but that's a guess. So could some kind person who knows alot about the enzo, coughnnocough. Please give us the technical and all that stuff to predict that out come.

Yeah, I'm already aware of the Tiff Needell drive of the Ferrari Enzo. But I'm what I'm talking about is the Ferrari Enzo is to be tested at the Top Gear test track where they have tested all other vehicles since they didn't get to do that previously. Wouldn't be the first time they've driven the same car on the show.

Ah ah, I see. Well then all that's left is to wait as patiently as possible, if that is possible. Man, I want to see this! Finally it should settle all these Enzo non-believers. Or, it could make me look like an idiot. FERRARI DON'T DISSAPOINT ME NOW!

As much as I love the Enzo, I would not be surprised at all if the Carrera GT wins. I predict in favor of the Porsche. Please do not cry if it wins, Tifosi.

Although I would prefer the Enzo for street use, I am putting my money on the CGT for the track. It has already posted several times faster than the Enzo in other track environments.

LOL, there's no way to predict how it'll go... The published numbers say the NNO is faster than the CGT, but actual tests performed suggest otherwise... We'll have to wait and see... i guarantee you that some other professional test driver will get different numbers that Top Gear; that's just the way it is...

The Enzo will definitely post the best track times they've ever recorded for a factory car. The CGT while awesome, is no Enzo on the track. On the street, yes. On the track, I don't think so. We'll see.

Top Gear always uses the same professional racing driver (the Stig) to do their track tests, so I tend to trust their comparisons. The only real bias that would spoil the fun would be a wet track. Either way, I can't wait to hear what Clarkson has to say about the Enzo. He's a definite Ferrari nut (despite the fact that he sold his 355 to get an SL55 which he sold for a Ford GT), but he always manages to find something to hate. He seems to have quite a distaste for what he terms flappy-paddle gearboxes, so we'll probably hear some remarks about that.

Well I have to concur that someone else will probably get different numbers than Test Gear. The thing I love about top gear is, as far as i know at least, the same guy drives all the cars. To me that adds a bit of credibliity to it. [I'm working on the assumption that he drives the cars about the same amount of time as a warm up before he tracks them.]

While an Enzo master could possibly get a better time, I think it says more about the car to have a guy who can drive all cars put them against each other.

This post really has little to do with NNOs, but it seemed like a good spot to reply from. :)

The figures are close enough that environmental factors can (and just might) sway the results.

Yeah, very good point. Regardless of rain, temp/humidity will probably play a big factor.

    Why are you so sure?

In one test, same driver, same day, the Carrera GT had the faster track time.

i trust stig's driving and methodology. He drove the 360CS and GT3 back to
back and got the exact same lap time on each car.

I would say the Enzo will spank the Carrera GT... but just think of how much faster the Carrera GT would be if it had paddle shifters...

    Yeah, some other professional driver.

It'd be quite funny if this happened:

Clarkson: " Unfortunately Ferrari aren't pleased with the Stig driving the Enzo as they think he cannot get the most out of the car. So they sent us a replacement driver, * step in Michael Schumacher *, to give us results. "

Ha, if one could only dream.

In Reality guys, the only advantage the Enzo has over the CGT is its Top Speed. I think that the CGT will take out the test no doubt....
But id still have an Enzo!

Exactly. The NNO's numbers are slightly better than the CGT, but people forget that the CGT is a straight shift; if it had paddles, it'd be ridiculous...

There's really no point in continuing this discussion, though, unless you folks are going to place bets. We'll just have to wait and see what happens...

As far as numbers go, the NNO isn't at the top of the list. The McLaren F1 STILL holds the top spot and there are other cars out there - that cost a lot less - that are a threat to the NNO's performance position... The NNO isn't the top notch #1 super car in the world - but it IS the best... :)

Normally I would be on fence in terms of who I thought would win, but in this case I'll go with the Enzo. The track does have a couple real corners, but a huge part of involves straighs connected by a highspeed corners.

This is the one area even the nardo test mentioned the Enzo had an advantage. It may not seem like much, but it takes the Enzo 10 less seconds to reach 186 mph. I don't expect them to reach anywhere near that, but the faster it gets the more advantage the Enzo has.

Totally agreed. On the track, the Carrera will beat the Enzo. Only slightly, but still. We´ll see what happens next sunday.

Wouldn´t it be cool if they just went head to head with a Carrera GT driven by Walther Rohrl and an Enzo driven by Dario Benuzzi?

No no, it should be driven by the only driver who can bring out the Enzo's ultimate potential, Michael Schumacher.
