It's official — Adam Carolla, Tanner Foust and Eric Stromer will be the threesome of hosts for NBC's US version of the greatest driving show ever — Top Gear. We've got the full press release with all the details on Top Gear USA below the jump.
UPDATE #1: Looks like Strommer will be the US version's James May — he "prefers his Camry hybrid?" Gag.
UPDATE #2: Sorry, we're still digesting the press release. We're liking the fact they're looking at "mirroring the UK show's irreverent humor and camaraderie" but we really don't think any of the UK presenters hearted the hybrid.
UPDATE #3: Here's the first on-set photo from Top Gear USA
UPDATE #4: We've put together a feature on everything you could ever want to know about Adam Carolla.
UPDATE #5: We've added a feature on everything you could ever want to know about Tanner Foust.
UPDATE #6: Finally, we've added a feature on everything you could ever want to know about Eric Stromer.

    Saw that earlier today.
I'm feel pretty confident in saying that unless they rip cars apart as viciously as Clarkson it is destined to failure.

For a real counterpoint to the original, I just hope they make a point to LOVE every new American-made car and completely trash anything from the UK. Then maybe have an episode where they drive across Europe in $1000 cars, acting like arrogant Americans.

Thank God I got tivo. Records every episode of Top Gear now, I love that show. I foresee this ending quickly and painfully.

Watched one of the funniest episodes last night where they take 3 BL(?) cars to prove to the management that the company made atleast one good car. Three funniest parts... when Jeremy opens the door but the interior panel stays in place and he still can't get in. 2nd fav. part is when they were testing them on a really bumpy road and his back door fell off. And 3rd is when jeremy was trying to go up that incline and did a burnout when he was up there.... I was crying.

Oh.. it was also hilarious when they filled the cars up with water and tried to get around the track.

Actually Adam Corolla stated on his radio show that they will mostly have Euorpean cars on the show and not that American crap. Corolla is a well known European car junkie. He has a few Lambos aswell a Ferraris. And I can guarentee he will rip so cars apart.

this show is set up for failure...

I mentioned this point before... but top gear is on BBC... which has no advertisers.

    NBC is driven by these...

The genuine honesty and "bashing" of the cars will likely not happen due to this and lets be honest... this is one of the reasons the show is so great. The commentary is just hilarious and mix in some great driving scenes... and we have a hit...

the US car companis (not just the big three, this is everyone manufacturer who sells in the US) will be out to get NBC or they wont give anyone who is associated with NBC (which I think is under the GE umbrella) any more advertising. Also, what is Mitsubishi USA going to say when they see there evo on a track??? they void warranties if there cars are drivien on the track... And what if one of there customers takes there car on the track and says hey you cant void my warranty... you gave top gear a car and they drove it on there track blah blah blah...

The US is far too letigeous for a true Top Gear...

It works in the UK... but its because the BBC is completely different and the European society as a whole is differnt.

Here is hoping I am proven wrong and everyone throws it back in my face when the show airs.

Top Gear drives 3 used street-cars across the most harsh parts of Africa and make fun of all the SUV owners who drive around London in 4-wheel drive trucks- by saying "They feel all prepared for a few leaves that might fall on their driveway pavement in the fall"

Try saying something like that in the USA on a network show???
Seems like 60% of people in my city buy trucks....and I live on the beach, on an island, with not one square inch of unpaved property. LOL

Europe has so many kooky little cars, and such rich car history... I don't know how the USA even comes close? Top Gear UK will never run out of interesting little sports cars to drive the wheels-off-of.

Get ready for a show about Ford F150's and Muscle cars :(

I watched Top Gear UK if we are calling that now, and they visited America. So is the American Stig going to be like the American Stig they had on there? :D

Come on, the Americans invented the car. There's lots of car history in America. What is wrong with muscle cars and trucks? They can be just as interesting as a Fiat 500 if done properly on the show.

I think this show might be very interesting. Why, while we're at it, is everyone talking about wanting an exact Top Gear copy just American? I for one don't want to see another Top Gear - I want to see something new and different. Otherwise it doesn't really make sense.

I remember reading that they won't review the car if they don't have anything nice to say about it. Just undercuts the whole purpose.

IMO, guaranteed to fail. I mean, how can you have a show that's supposed to be critical but won't have anything bad to say? Especially about American cars. Wait...we have one, already: Motor Trend!

The original is always better than the knockoff, anyway. Even 6th Gear was poor, in comparison.

Yes, I thought about that. But we also invented Mass Production and unlike the UK... we started making 10's of thousands of Vettes and Mustangs.

Seems that on the other side of the pond ... you had 1,000's of little guys making all kinds of crazy sports cars.

Ferrari and Top Gear UK are fun because they both focus on cars that are not a dime a dozen in the USA.

Apparently that was a good idea, and this show seems to be avoiding those  Tanner Foust sucks at Super Cars Exposed and I've never heard of Stromer.

Does anyone know when this show is suppose to first air? I am hoping it will be good, but will most likely be a failure :(. Tanner also doesn't seem to be very accurate in what he says in Super Cars Exposed...

Have a feeling it's gonna suck. Tanner Foust? Why? Carolla is pretty funny, and I dunno who the F the other guy is.
