I can't get it to download properly either. When you "save target as" it says it wants to save as html.
That site won't work that way. Click on the link, then click on the link on the page labeled "download" and it'll let you save to file.
Wasn't that a lap in wet conditions? Saw the show with the 575 & Vanquish S yesterday. Would be hard to choose between those two...
Great Vid. The Ferrari is definitely more of a drivers car and the tranny in the Aston is in a word...terrible. I would pick the Ferrari on any given day over the Aston...and give me a gated shifter as well please. ;-)
Here's the Zonda Roadster vid if anyone is interested http://ezshare.de/files-en/71409/TGZonda.wmv.html
Excellent video. Many thanks for the link. I have no idea what they mean about the 575's styling.."too flash but boring,".....come again? It's gorgeous. It makes the Vanquish look warped and hastily thrown together, at least a burgundy Vanquish. Black Vanquishes look much, much better, but I'll never own one. That said, the sound of the Vanquish is head and shoulders above the 575. Why can't Ferrari let the stock exhaust showcase the engine's sound like Aston? It's a shame. Thank heaven for Tubi et al. I'll blame it on the noise police. The Vanquish, like the Murci, is almost worth having just for the sound of the engine. Ferrari 12-cylinder's should sing that gorgeous tenor and a baritone, like the other 12s. Overall excellent work by Top Gear. Forza, Cavallini
Humm, I heard a 575M GTC, it had FERRARI sport exhaust on it and sounded GREAT, I was told they all come with this. Maybe only in NA it's standard and in Europe it's a option and this car didn't have it? Cause the car I heard sounded awesome.
At the end, where they re-tested the 575, the lap time was faster than the GT3, Exige and less than half a second down on the Gallardo! Really surprised and impressed me.
Just comparing the way the two cars looked going around the track, I think the 575 looks much more nimble. they are both very heavy for sports cars, but the Vanquish just looked sluggish, looked like it had more bodyroll, just kind of looked like a tub of butter. I think the DB9 is simply beautiful. The Vanquish is just a bit... chunky. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the 575's replacement.
That Zonda Roadster video was fantastic. It just reminded me why we love cars, because they move us emotionally. Plus, has anyone seen one of the those Wally yachts. It looked ridiculously cool.
The 575GTC definatly appeared to be more nimble and had significantly less body roll , but I too was disappointed with the lap time. I expected it to really beat the Vanquish S.... espicially with the problems the Vanquish S was having!!! I dont know if you guys have seen it, but Fifth Gear tested out the S, and Vicky tried to push it to 200 mph... Unfortunatly the car never made it to that speed due to track length restrictions... Oh and dare i forget to say that the drive belts slipped off three times during the test.... and that Vicky was instructed not to powerslide, or else it would happen again!! Comon Aston Martin... get you stuff together! That combined with the horrible, delayed, "Flappy paddle gearbox"...unacceptable!
I'll only comment about the 575's styling... IMO the ultimate is still the 550 with the 6 speed manual + handling package. I'm no fan of paddles - that's what the S&M boys like I know what they mean when they say the 550/575 is beautiful but boring. The styling is several years old... it's a clean but sober looking design. You could roll up in a tracksuit or a Johnathan Phillips pinstripe. You'd look ridiculous in a Boss suit with a lime green Murcielago! I'd go as far as to say the 550/575 is a bit too conservative without the huge scoops or strakes of mid engined cars. I can't help it - I'd take the 550 over many other mid engined cars because I'm an introvert rather than an extrovert. T.
