but these Top Gear episodes will most likely be from 2-3yrs ago, not the current stuff. I'll stick to downloading them off the net until they manage to get with the times.....

"brutally appraises" is the operative description. Whilst the program may be entertaining, it is not basesd on reality. When JC did one on the M5 he said so many stupid things like "can't turn the nav off, it's jerky, can't turn the indicators off, rolls backwards". Then when he started praising the car he said (amongst other things) that it sounded like an F430. Not only has he done too much hand cranking but he's also done something to make him deaf too.

i reckon you cant beat getting it off a torrent or emule, that way you can watch this week's episode only a day or so late. (not that i condone piracy) it is really the best car show of all time, production value is massive, the presenters (Jeremy, Richard & James) all work well together, and bounce off each other, and it is extremely entertaining. on the episode from a week or 2 ago they said that they won an Emmy, its good to see that a good show gets recognised. This weeks episode, another race across europe with a Bugati Veyron , apparently he actually gets it to 240mph? so ive heard.

Seen them all actually I could upload tomorrows episodes right now hahaha. Seriously tho, its great its on SBS, can show Ch10 and Ch9 how to really make a car show, not the dribble they have been trying to make the past 10yrs. Tho I hope they edit all the episodes where JC praises the Monaro I seen some of the Old old Topgear from 1989~ and that is about where that show Drive is today haha.
The Aussie shows fall down for a couple of reasons. The aussie hosts are a little to "card Board", theyre too serious, and stiff, they cant seem to get the same level of comfort as JC or RH. Kind of like 5th gear, its good, but still a little less natural, funny, or casual. Aussie show's dont seem to get as much, or unlimited access to good cars, so all they really get frequently and for abuse is Commonwhores and Falcoon's. Kind of like Motor magazine, where they will compare a HSV to anything (last month there was EVO vs WRX vs HSV, and there was also CLS vs M5 vs Commonwhore), that really $#!ts me. Aussie show's dont seem to have the same sort of terrific scenery that top gear so often use, like recently they drove a car through a coastal town of Portugal, or where they took the Zonda roadster from Monaco, or Ferrari 612 to Verbier in Swizerland. yes we do have the outback, northwest, the troppical areas of far north QLD, which all have their own beauty, but they are either too hard to get too for a journo, or not as nice as what is in europe
what the Aussie shows don't have is MONEY!! Look at the costs TG must run to for some of the insane things they do, destroying a Merak, Urraco and GT4 for laugh value in one episode ... that alone would cost $200k+ here in Oz and that was just ONE segment on the show !! They bought the cars for under $25k each and THAT would have been the cheap part of the production as I'm sure there are some media types here who can tell us the cost of producing photography and editing to the quality that is shown on TG. It really does come down to MONEY and the FTA (free to air) channels here don't see the value in quality as they know revheads will watch any old **** so long as it contains cars with the hope of seeing something special and then they flood it with 10 millions Shannon adds to pi55 us off .... if I see 'gogo-man' one more time I'm gonna throw a brick thru the telly. Channel 10 are the kings of ads, I can watch Lord of the Rings (all episodes) or read War and Peace during the ad breaks !!! So in the end we are being fed crap and being pi55ed on from a great height by the FTA channels, still we do have the internet and satellite and live in the best country bar none in the world
