Thursday, 01 July , 2010, 10:18 A sequel to the 1986 blockbuster movie Top Gun seems to be in the pipeline as the movie bosses are in talks to bring back actor Tom Cruise for the sequel. The original film's producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, has confirmed he's been approached with plans to resurrect Cruise's character, Lieutenant Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, for a follow-up to the naval aviation drama, reports imdb.com. "We were recently approached again to start talking about it but, you know, nothing yet. We kicked around some ideas because the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it," Bruckheimer said. Top Gun is the latest in a long line of popular movies which are rumoured to be heading back to the big screen, including Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters.
My plot suggestion: "After being passed over for promotion due to being photographed at 'Tailhook', Lt. Commander 'Mavrick' Mitchell, now flying P-3 submarine patrols out of Misawa, is engaged by rogue North Korean Fishing trawlers skillfully sinking one with a well placed sonobuoy. His plane is forced to land in North Korea, where he terrifies NK leader Kim Il Sung by jumping up and down on his couch, and secures release for him and his new Korean girlfriend, Chew Mi. He is decorated on TV by President Obama, and is rewarded by the Navy by being made a Docent at the museum in Pensacola."
You crack me up and you should be a writer on TV. I have seen worse. I have also seen enough of " Maverick"from the movie and recent poli.tics
One thing is certain: there won't be any F-14s in it unless they're computer generated. And if they misuse CGI technology as badly as they did in "Pearl Harbor" we're all going to hate it.
