The largest issue with the top is the first set of elastics located in the headliner. This is a simple fix for that, however a DIY method could be less than $5.

Of note though is that there are a number of other elastics that contribute to top movement which all go bad about the same time. Most don't affect the operation as drastically as the ones in the headliner though. The others are not easy to get to though and would get replaced at the same time your top is replaced.

Sorry, didn't read that this was a solution you were offering. I thought you were asking our opinions on it to purchase for yourself.

Thanks for coming up with something that requires no sewing.

Chas is super helpful. I bought some headlight plastic parts from him last winter. Knows his stuff.

I fixed this with some zip ties and springs but his solution is much more elegant than mine.

YES. This is the best fix ever invented for the main elastic straps which keep the fold over bar from retracting properly when closing!
For $170 with shipping, anyone who watches the short video can install these two straps on each side of the car. It took me about 15 mins to install the first one on the right side and less than 5 mins on the left side. Just need to connect the black tie wraps on the fixed rear bar and clip in the front clip as shown in the video. I was quoted $800 to replace the straps at a dealer and did it myself in less than 30 mins and it closes just like the original. Can’t thank Exotic Speciality Parts enough for such a great product! Don’t hesitate to fix it yourself!

Been pushing the bar for about 5 years now. It has become an automatic action for my left hand to do
since it is not doing anything while my right hand is pushing on the switch, lol.

I will be happy to hear what Lorenzo has also, if he's ok with sharing.
    PM is ok.

well I don't mind sharing since you asked but I have a ton of elastic material left over from Maserati convertible top and it appears to be the same. I'll keep you posted if I sell it
