Book says 185-ish but my mechanic says 192!!!! Which is it??????????
I believe it is rev limited at about 181-185 mph. 192 would then not sound possible. Above 170 mph and you will accelerate very, very slowly. You need miles of open road to go from 170 to the top speed.
A stripped down 95 challenge car could definately hit that top range. As stated though... you'd need some open road to get up there.
standard f355 on street tires clocked 180mph exactly through the speed trap in motor trend's high speed shootout. SO you're in the range of 178-182mph. top speed for the 360 is around 185mph. f430 is rumored to flirt with 200mph, but I think 195mph is more reasonable.
Did the Drivers run\F.chat Top speed run at Bruntingthorpe 2 mile runway this saturday last, in my 95 355 spider. My recorded top speed on the day was 168mph on the straight before the track ran out.The speed was still climbing as i passed the timing lights. Its also to be noted that the straight runway is on a slight uphill gradent. So if it was straight who knows, see bellow. I will say that my speedo is only about 2mph out if that, becourse as i was nearing the timing lights my speedo was just under 170mph. I was also at times giving some rides to passengers and still atained 164mph, and i am also 19 stone, so a lighter driver...... I personaly have seen just over 180mph at other little longer longer roads. My car is standard apart from the De-cat Capristo, K&Ns and 295 rear tyres. There was another 355 equiped with Tubi that ran a a speed of 161mph. We were able to take of together, and and my Capristo equiped car easly pulled away. Proofs in the pudding so to speak. Hope this helps. MB: As a yard stick, the 360 coupe was timed at 167mph, and the 456 was at 170mph.
