Glad to see that a TR is capable of that speed. I have seen 150mph in my 1990, and knew it had more but ran out of road..... 6.0, Please tell me what 215 felt like in the Diablo. I have heard that after 160 things are going by so fast that it feels like a video game..... Alex
when i rented a 360 a couple months ago i got it up to 135 and didn't want to go any faster than that. In my RX-8 i have gotten up to 140 mph...pretty sad i've gone faster in MY car than the rental. lol.
Never thought of it that way.lol. It gets surreal at that speed....well, anything over 200 and you feel like you are watching from somewhere else, and not really in the car. Hard to explain. I have done over 50 runs in my life over 200. 170-190ish is the most difficult section, as you hear every sound, feel every bump. After that it smooths out. Thats how it feels to me. It is the greatest adreneline rush that I have experienced. I have actually turned over 221 in a car, using a G Tech device, but it wasnt radar verified. ps And the TR is certainly capable of that. In the 80's, I used to do the "wild mile" in a not to be mentioned spot in Atlanta(because it still goes on), and my 88.5 TR was a top performer, with a couple of mods. It would run into the 160's in a standing mile. Wish I still had that badboy.
Thats fantastic! Thanks for the insight....Going fast on the track is one thing, but I believe that adreneline rush that you mentioned is particular to the street. One is not worried about the getting pulled over for speeding on the track. Knowing that you are exceeding the posted speed limit by 100 - 150mph or so carries an adreneline of its own...
I've had my 330 2+2 to 100 and at that speed it feels like it is just getting going. It's well broken in at 42.5 k miles and I'm sure it's good for the originally claimed 150. I won't try it until I've had the Borrani wheels restored.
I've seen 178 in my TR... 170 in my 348... 155 in my Euro 308QV... 150 in my Mondialt... 201 in my F40... and 203 in my SL55
I never thought of it this way until now. Check this out. 60MPH = 1 mile every minute 120MPH = 2 mile every minute = 1 mile every 30 seconds 180MPH = 3 mile every minute = 1 mile every 20 seconds 240MPH = 4 mile every minute = 1 mile every 15 seconds That means that 6.0 se was going about 1 mile every 17 seconds. Can you imagine that ?!?!?! Holly crap! BTW- Imagine redlining a McLaren F1!!!
Your speeds are right in line with what I have found, except for the F40. Do you think you had anything left, or was it "spent"?
Hit an indicated 150 mph once in my 308QV. Been to 135-140 several times. Things go by awfully fast at that speed. The car wasn't even breathing heavy, but I was so I had to slow down!!
My gsxr1000 from turn 6 to 7 has been clocked at 170mph. Runs a 9 second quarter at 150 mph. No way do you get 167 in car, a street legal car, like a 360. Some one needs to get their speedo checked. Art
Hey Art, thats very cool. What does 170 on a bike feel like? 160 in my 550 165 in my viper and 150 in the 360. Just don't have the roads around here to wait out the really high speeds and 140 on the finishing straight at Thill is me best track speed. After our Rampage run, I now know where to go to wind it out though.
I regularly fly up a three lane mountain canyon road at 120-130, take straights (up a slight grade) at 165 (the 550 goes from 80-165 in two miles, floored at 8,200 feet altitude) and do corners on the interstate and on one state highway at 140. No, I'm only kidding. I always obey posted speed limits officer. By the way, officer,I hacksawed my license plate today so it'll fit on the lower lip of my 550
160 in someone elses Ferrari..does that count? And as a passanger, 165...just check the SR video's Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: Westwood, CA Full Name: Darth Diggler Posts: 7,777 Damn Dave!!
And to think, Dan's new box is still not as nice as your old box. but, then again, your old box was smooth as a gf's after a wax. That may be the gayest non gay post ever.
That would be 280kmh in a 360 spider - top down. Had soar hairbottom for the rest of that week.... Not all spent, but the road was getting bumpy, so had to chill down. Heres a pic of my "driving with one hand taking picture with other hand speed record" Image Unavailable, Please Login
passenger in a 355, 240km/h in a national park, the noise resonating of the rock walls, i'll never forget it
