Help, tried to lower the top on my 99 spider. Started to work, seats went forward and then stopped. I manually closed the top and latched but how do I get seats, windows operational? Help!

First attempt at lowering top - unlatched, pushed top button, seats forward, windows down nothing further, now can't start (cranks) can't move windows or seats. Just off the transport truck from AZ to TX. Any ideas?

Was the car running? If not sounds like a dead battery since everything stopped working.

Yeah definetly make sure the motor is running when you do this.

I don't rely on the automatic system. I lower the windows myself all the way down, then put the handbrake on, close both doors, then bring seats all the way forward.

Once that's done lift up the top until it stops and beeps, after the beep, manually close it up and you're good.

If you're opening it, do the same routine, unlatch and push back with your hand until you hear a beep. Once you heard a beep, finish the process with the button.

Then close the windows and back up the seats manually.

Thanks for the advice. Battery was marginal after a long truck with the radio on the whole way. I did not have the engine on. Just installed a new battery and will give it a go tomorrow I'm going to pre lower windows set seats back as suggested. I do not have an owner's manual. One should be arriving soon.

What do you suggest as a portal to the battery circuit for easily charging the battery? Is this a common enhancement?

Thanks very much for the much needed help. Day #1 of Ferrari ownership. Quie an adventure so far.

With a new battery, you should be fine. I always raise and lower the top on my 355 Spider with the engine running.

To lower: turn on parking brake, close both doors, manually release the top and push it back until you hear a beep. Then pull back on the center switch behind the ash tray, the windows will drop a couple inches,,the seats will slide forward automatically, and the top will begin to lower. Don't stop until it is all the way down. Then your seats will go back automatically. Attach your boot over your top by fastening the snaps all the way around.

To raise: remove boot, turn on parking brake, close both doors. Push forward on the center switch behind the ash tray and the windows will lower a couple inches and the seats will slide forward. The top will begin to raise and stop right above your head. Pull it forward manually and latch it. Push forward on center switch again and seats will go back automatically.

You shouldn't need a battery tender unless you will parking the car for long periods of time. If that is the case just search the Fchat threads and you will find the answers you need.

Good luck and welcome to the Brotherhood! Make sure you subscribe and fill out your profile.
