Went to open the top and the drivers side would not finish to full open. Can anyone tell me how to manually operate the top? Reset battery, tried to close and reopen and it will not move now. It is really close to finishing its move open but not quite there.

I bet it is a battery issue. The voltage has to be high enough for the position sensors to work. Try plugging in a battery conditioner and after an hour operate the top with the battery conditioner attached via the key in the door. That way your engine will not be pulling extra voltage to other systems.

I did try it with no luck. It seems it bound up when trying to open. Is there a way to move the top manually? Or start the closing procedure manually?

Yes there is a very convoluted procedure in the owners manual. You need to get access to the tool kit in the trunk, and then remove the 2 access panels on the right and left of the rear trunk. Definitely make sure you read the entire procedure before you start.

This happened to a "T" I was renting in Sicily. The rental company had to send a guy back to Sicily - take some of the car apart as our luggage was trapped in-the-trunk. I'd recommend taking to Ferrari or a good independent service shop.

agree .. I have owned 3 Californias and the battery needs to be fully charged the best bet is to keep it on the tender when not in use.. I drive my current 2013 everyday but I still find it helpful to keep it on the tender when not in use....

I'm battling top issues as well at the moment, but mine is when closing. Mine is with 99% certainty battery related. However, I had one situation where it stopped it stopped just as it had lifted the back window in the opening sequence. It would not do anything. When I shut off the car, the back window slowly fell down on the top. I tried battery negative terminal off, I tried 30s keyfob open button etc. etc. I finally decided to just gently manually help the back window back to its closed position. That didn't change anything even though everything was in the right places, it did not latch, so still a roof fault. I put it on a tender over night and the next morning did the close procedure. It finally latched and everything work normally until the battery was low again.

Be careful when operating the roof manually, it will get out of position easily, just enough to cause bigger problems.

Best advice, tender on until green light, try finishing the procedure that it stopped in.

after hundreds of warnings and trial and error. i have also conclude that weak battery (just a bit weak, not dead) will cause all these roof gremlins. all sensors will be super sensitive, and many other mysterious roof warnings. whenever charger is green light, almost zero problem

My problem actually turned out to be a faulty sensor rather than battery related. The battery issues were just symptoms. Since the sensor was replaced there have been no issues and I haven't had to use the trickle charger even once, even if left for a week.

I don't know which, but one of the hall sensors. I had a Ferrari Approved warranty.
