Parked my convertible with the top down on a nice sunny autumn day. The interior is black leather. It had me thinking that if it was August and blazing hot I would probably close the top every time I stopped to preserve the leather. But that got me thinking that maybe I should use a windshield cover. Which made me think that driving the car would be a hassle and I would end up leaving it home rather than going through the "procedure" every time I parked in the sun.

I noticed an older spider with the leather dashboard all curled up and shriveled. This is what got me paranoid.

Do you guys park the car open? In the sun? What about windshield covers? How long do you park the car before deciding it should be closed up? How about those half covers that hide the interior?

Is the leather in the 360 susceptible to the shriveling?

WTF? You take the car out of the garage? On a street? Are you nuts? Well at least it wasn't raining...

Don't be so nervous man. Drive it, park it, maintain it, clean it. It will wear and tear just like anything else that's used but well taken care of.

Keep the soft surfaces treated, when they shrivel, have them replaced. Isn't that part of the 30K?

I have an '86 328 with black leather. Top never goes on unless it is raining [hard]. Keep the leather clean and well treated and you will have no problems. After 48k there is no wrinkling, shriveling or splitting on my interior.
