I bought myself a new gizmo today, a digital inspection camera. I was looking in the engine compartment of my 355 trying out the new camera and discovered my recently replaced drivers side inner slim cv boot from Pegasus auto racing is already torn. Damn it! This isnt a fun job to do over again. Anyway I just wanted to let you guys know that maybe the slim aero boots arent the best idea on the 355. Now I need to find the stock cv boots and I may as well go ahead and do both sides. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a boot and the metal cover (I threw my old metal covers away since the racing boot had one already, when will I learn?) BTW I got the camera for $72 at Harbor Freight with a 20% off coupon. It's usually hit or miss with HF stuff and this camera seems to be a win for my use. Sorry to hear about the boot Erick. I've had my Harbor Freight inspection camera for awhile now with no issues whatsoever. It's really an invaluable tool when it comes to looking around the cramped engine compartment. Hope your re-fit goes well. Henry
That sucks! I just ordered 1474-108 from Pegasus this morning for my 348. How long have they been installed?
I installed the drivers side around the first of August 2012 probably clocked around 1000 miles on the boot. It's possible I damaged it when I installed the sport springs some time later. I haven't heard of anyone else having issue with the aero boots. Although when I installed them I was a bit skeptical as they are only for a 6 degree shaft and it seems like the 355 shafts are more than that.
I removed the heat shield tonight and got a couple pics for the heck of it. You can see the boot tore all the way around. The passenger side is still doing good however it didn't go on until a couple months after the drivers side. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
