I hope all our local F-Chatters made it through unharmed. We just missed the northern edge of it here. David
One of the tornados that roared through the area this afternoon missed our farm by a little over one mile. My wife was home alone with the critters. She briefly considered turning the horses out into the pasture but wisely decided to get them into the stable. She got everything battened down and headed for shelter. She said that she was about one minute away from joining our cats in the relative safety of the basement. She reported that the heavens rained down golf ball size hail. We are VERY lucky to have been spared any real damage. I was at the office some 25 miles away. My drive home is normally 45 minutes. Tonight I left the office at 7:30 and arrived home at 10:00. Some areas on the drive home were seemingly untouched and other areas are DEVASTATED. The small town of Monson was hit very hard. I was relieved to hear that some friends from Monson were on the phone when I walked in the front door of my house. Their family is all together, unharmed and staying with friends. Not sure what they will find when they are able to inspect their home. Their house was in the direct line of travel of the tornado. However, houses, cars and other property are easily replaced - family and friends are not replaceable. I have a lot of phone calls to make tomorrow but I'm cautiously optimistic that our friends and family in the area are all safe. Preliminary reports from our small town are one confirmed death. A significant amount of property damage including a barn that collapsed killing the horses inside. All of us at Autumn View Farm are very thankful tonight !!! - Ed -
Glad to hear everyone's ok. Providence area didn't seem to get a scratch. As for hail we got a little bit bigger than marbles (Dented my neighbors Bentley http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx1/CustomF430/0601011830.jpg ) As for my friends and family everyone is ok! A Buddy did get hit by Lightning but he is stable, He got thrown 15ft but he is probably getting out of the hospital today.
Glad to hear you made it through ok. Sorry about the devastation to the town. Hope that gets sorted quickly. All the best, Andrew.
We had multiple storms coming thru. Weather channel told us to go to the basement three times. Heavy rain, lightning and high winds. Small hail. Lost power for six hours. (Thank god for the generator.) All in all, everyone is safe and no real problems. I have a brother that is a trooper in Springfield. He said it looks nasty out that way. I tripple dog dare you to make a donation to the Red Cross. - Ron
