________________________ Source: CP24 For Toronto Police officers investigating recent bloodshed it was a promising start to the week, with not one but two arrests. A second suspect wanted in the city’s 50th shooting death, 20-year-old Marcel Blackburn (above left), turned himself in to 31 Division Monday morning. He’s since been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Sepehr ‘Danny’ Fatulahzadeh-Rabti, who was shot in the head and chest outside a North York car dealership Thursday night, allegedly over the details of a car lease. Emergency Task Force officers had already taken Jodie Wheatle, 20, into custody Sunday in connection with the case – he’s also been charged with second-degree murder. Wheatle is apparently a former basketball star from Westview Centennial High School. Fatulahzadeh-Rabti, a 25-year-old employee of Genniva Motors, at Steeles Ave. W. near Signet Dr., was Toronto’s 74th murder victim. ________________________ All murders are obviously bad. But this one really hits home since a 25 yr old innocent car salesmen gets shot in the head by two thugs while working at his uncle's dealership Ginneva Motors. He got shot twice right in front of his two brothers. One of the murderer's was caught weeks ago with a gun which had the serial number erased. He was then let go on bail. I am not much into politics but I hope our next election will shed some light on all this violence. Can anyone explain this crap!? V.
This is the kind of thing you would expect to hear about in the US, now the problem has arrived here in Canada. I don't know how they are going to put a stop to all this, but something has to be done.
Brother I know. It's sad. I havent gone to the auction since this incident but I can assure you I will run into many guys who are grieving. 25 years old. That sucks.
I know, that is really disturbing. Its time.... as Nicolas Cage said, "the question is, how do we arm the other 11?"
Yeah but that is the problem. "Arms". All these gangsters running around are hilarious... If it came down to an old fashion one on one, man to man fight none of them would last (not that I'm endorsing violence!) Central Technical High School is where I went to high school. I saw how things were dealt with. If things didnt go right....nothing a pool cue to the teeth wouldnt fix! Now a bullet to the head of some inocent person?! Gimme a break.
Hah, I knew it was a matter of time before osmeone said, "guns themselves are the problem." Which is why I didn't bother to elaborate or we would be sitting here for hours discussing pro/anti-gun statements. BTW, did you pick up on the Nic Cage line? I know what you mean, but sadly this isn't the case in reality. And as you adequately stated, "a bullet to the head of some innocent person," that is very out of place. Hell, this whole situation is out of place but the context of this shooting is totally absurd. Makes you wonder if there's anything worthwhile left of this city. A killing over a car lease.. dear God..... What's next, look at me without my permision and I'll lay you out?! Jeez.
The reason there is so many murders here in toronto is because these guys are getting the guns from the states i dont know how they come over the border but anyways then they come back to toronto or any other place here and shoot every1 down its sad but its true and I dont know why its not happening in the states so canada really has to work up there borders and not let these guys come over with guns no matter what!! Sadly Aidan
Truely a sad event. It really is getting out of control in Toronto. Here is an article from the star. It shows pretty well why I hate the star. Why do they talk about the murderer more than the victim? No mention of what the victim enjoyed, what he excelled at. This is the type of mentality that perpetuates this crap. He's a damn thug, period. No star basketball player, not nice kid, great son, etc. A thug and a murderer, plain and simple The fact that he was even let back on the streeets after assualting and officer, and being in possesion of an illegal firearm angers me.
How is that? You could be right. How could it get better with one of the other idiots in power? My "red" Tony Ianno sign went up last nite. V.
i'm not really into the whole political thing...like i'm still asking my dad who we're voting for lol....but seriously i dont think this is something the liberals should get blammed for, this woulda happened even if the conservitives were in and if hell was ever to freeze over the ndp....the only one thing i know from all this election stuff is that everyone is always lying and we all get stuck with it. Whoever will get elected will pull through on one promise out of the 900 they made and just make up some excuse on why the other 899 promises have to be delayed till about when? oh around the time the next election comes... And this murder is just completely ridiculous...i mean honestly we got people shooting each other over lease agreements? Im sorry did i forget we live in canada, a fully developed country where we have morals and values and laws...this is just outrageous and it doesn't look like its gonna stop anytime soon...the police are having a hard time...the government is just saying "it must be stopped"...and the communities are closing their doors and living in fear...regardless of whoever is in power this is something that has to be fixed from the ground up...
I don't think he was blaming the liberal government for anything. Rather, just saying that newspapers, like the star, who try to make readers feel bad for scum bags, is a liberal thing. Which it is. And, at the expense of the victim, I think it's disgusting.
The Liberals are soft on crime.... the Conservatives would treat criminals ..well... like criminals. That and the Liberals have ensured that the only people armed are the bad guys..... (gun control). Further to my point, here's an article from the bleeding heart Liberal, Toronto Star.... seems as though the Police themselves are fedup with the Liberals: Tory, police angry at bail for alleged killer Awaiting trial on gun crime, man now stands accused of murder Dec. 6, 2005. 10:37 AM CURTIS RUSH STAFF REPORTER THESTAR.COM The fact that an accused killer was out on bail while awaiting trial on a gun charge has incensed Ontario Conservative Leader John Tory as well as top Toronto police officials. It's another example that people are losing faith in the justice system, Tory charges. Tory has called on Premier Dalton McGuinty to immediately appoint an Ontario Crime Reduction Commissioner to co-ordinate the gun-crime activities of all police forces and work closely with Crowns and court administration. "There needs to be someone specifically dedicated to co-ordinating everyone involved in battling gun crime," Tory said in a release. "The McGuinty Liberals are not doing an effective job and it's time to bring in someone who will oversee a comprehensive approach to making our communities safer." Last week, car salesman Sepehr Fatulahzadeh-Rabti, 25, was slain during an argument with two angry customers. One of the accused is Jodie Wheatle, once a promising high school basketball player, who was arrested at Yorkdale Shopping Mall Nov. 5, allegedly with a stolen, loaded hand gun. He was also alleged to have assaulted police during the arrest. He was let out on bail, apparently without conditions. The situation has angered everyone from Supt. Roy Pilkington of 31 Division and Toronto Police Association president Dave Wilson. Wilson has called for an investigation into the matter. "If the person was released without conditions after being arrested for a gun offence, and for assaulting police, they should look at what happened to allow this person to go back out on the street," Wilson told thestar.com this morning. "If they had held him in custody or put appropriate conditions on him, then this may have been prevented." The Crown's office needs to look at this case, the head of the police association added, to find out whether the Crown contested the case. Tony Cannavino, president of the Canadian Professional Police Association, which represents 54,000 members, said he was appalled that the accused got bail. "This is not shoplifting, after all," he said. Cannavino is upset with the whole justice system and said calls for a review of the whole parole system have gone unheeded so far. "The review is at the justice standing committee now and it's obviously not priority No. 1," he said today. "It's a farce. People are losing faith in the justice system." Tory said he will examine the court transcripts to find out what happened.
This is truely sad to hear about. I wish newspapers wouldn't try and humanize people who do sub-human things. They need to curb the flow of guns from America into the area for sure. Among many many other things.. Gang on gang violence really doesn't bother me so much, let the idiots clear each other out, but with innocent people? That's over the line.
That's fine. Once again I am NOT into politics as much as I should. And I will be the first to say that I cannot hold my own in a political discussion. But can someone explain to me how another party (other than the Liberals) would have stopped this bottom-of-the-barrel individual from shooting this 25 yr old inocent man? Please explain.
Liberal format in general and NDP format in general Vasco believes in the platform of "more freedom" if such a phase can be used. They believe in the changing of people, rehabilitation. You know, like the druggies in TO should have a safe and controlled environment and needles supplied by the government in a safe clean package so they can shoot up.(Thats what David Miller has done in Toronto). Also, David Miller has added additional police force to walk the streets. These are good ideas but the problem is more police officers only relates to mre arrests maybe, but the jail term or parole sentence is still the same. Because they believe in "rehabilitation". A Conservative platform is just that, more Conservative. "Gay rights" should have rights but not allowed "Marriage", Liberals NDP believe they should. Conservatives believe in a stronger sense on crime, harsher punishment for crimes, liberlas and NDPers do NOT. There are many examples. Read the parties platforms to understand abit further. The current problem here in T.O is blamed not on the guns from the US...make the boaders tighter does not stop me with my family with 2 car seats in a benz coming over with 3 hand guns in the baby napsack. I never get pulled over. Criminals will always find the edge. So, increase cost on boarder expections will be useless. The solution you ask? Firm laws in our land. And accountable (This is what we are missing) My example to try and solve the problems would be a small step in this direction and monitor: 1)Anyone caught in posession of a firearm, not regist. automatic 10 yr jail term, no parole. 2) Any weapon (knife, pencil, gun) used to attempt murder in anyway shape or form automatic 20 yr prison term, after 10 yr served option for parole for good behavour. 3) Act of murder commited with a weapon life imprisonment. 4) Helping a known criminal in anyway, automatic 10yr no parole. These are just first steps that i would try and just monitor, everyone is aware of the consequences. No appeal in defences allowed once convicted. You ask about the jails, realestate is cheaper in sudbury than 100s of cop man hrs and time to chase criminals for the same crimes over and over again. Do the math. After this monitoring I would start to dig deeper to the next scum bags, child molesters...automatic life term, no parole or halfway houses. And you move from there. Is this a perfect plan "no' if it was I would be in office. But I think its a start to see what works, so far a 2Billion dollar liberal gun reg. went to waste, and more officers doesnt seem to help, so what do we have to lose by trying something else. Thats how that guy could have been saved. Just my 2cents my dear freind.
Great points my friend. Thanks for the post/response. I guess if we can have some Liberal ways with a touch of the conservatives (IE: harsher sentences) Then it may work a little better. But how can we do that? When Mulrouny was in office everyone complained then too. In Ontario Mike Harris was also hated BIG TIME! How can we win? Maybe this is why I stay out of politics LOL. Thanks again Rick.
Harris and Mulroney were hated because they had to do the clean up. Before Harris, please remember David Peterson building the sky dome for 100m in taxpayers money and it cost 500m after it was done, He left us with a 2billion deficit. Then our good freind Bob(ndp) and his finance minsiter (pink floyd) brought Ontario to a record 10Billion in debt. Harris came in slashed away back to 2billion before he and Ernie Eves left. It was too drastic but got the job done. (Dont forget Chretien in power cutting Ontrio transfer payments in the budget to Ontario year after year). Hence, now Dalton. He inherits 2 billion plus, raises health care taxes last year(remember). So a continuation of crap, and Ont still giving 23B to the feds with nothing to Ontario, So Dalton hanging onto to crap as well. Mulroney, lets see, takes over after Trudeau, the largest debt in CDN history 400B total, interest rates at 18% in early 80s in a recession leaves CDN to right a book. He tries to also clean up. Bring interest rates down and works on NAFTA. At the time NAFTA looked bad and favoured the US, but after a decade stats show that its worked in our favour in the global market adn export for products has actually increased. Left the economy on an upswing with decreased debt, but brought in the hated GST(hate him for that part). Chretian takes over, enjous a robust economy, stealing from Ontario. Keeps the national debt steady (thank god for that) and has a few scandels, and leaves Paul Martin with the bag. After review, implemented a 2b gun registry increased foreign spending by 20 % decreased the military spending and no increase to health care or the middle class, and of course the ad scam. So here we are today, anyone have a problem with what I said, you need to read a history book first to debate me. Do your homework real well if you wish to debate this. This is where we stand today Vasco. A mess !!
And now he says he wants to ban all handguns. Woo woo, go liberals. I feel like giving him one from my Glock right up his red behind.
New announcement from the Liberals..... just goes to show you how aweful that party really is... So, your infamous multi-billion dollar gun registry isn't working as well as you thought? Ban all handguns (which are almost impossible to buy anyways), that will solve the problem. Criminals still commiting crimes with guns? Ban all guns period! So you're a hunter, farmer, gun collector, or enjoy target practice? Too bad, you must be a criminal! Still not working? Then ban knives, large sticks, and closed fists.... that will fix the problem. Maybe if they took all that $$ and put it into tougher sentences for gun crimes, border security, and police officers they'd get a better result... but hey, that makes too much sense for a Liberal politician.
Gun control is one subject I mostly have to disagree with the liberals on. I like the idea of tougher stances on gun crime as well. I'd hate to see Canada turn into the US.
