Anyone know the recommended torque setting for these camshafts caps on 308 2v? Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've havent been able to find a 1/4 drive torque wrench from snap on that can torque any lower than 10lbs. Craftsman sales a 3/8 drive that has a range as low 5 lbft.
Perhaps I should clarify what I intended to say about the 1/4" drive.... What I really meant to say was; You'll need a torque wrench which has resolution in inch-pounds. The Snap On wrench I use is similar to the QD1200 unit, which reads from 40 - 200 inch-pounds. This is a "click-type" torque wrench. The are also "tension-beam"/strain gauge units and well as "dial types" which may even be more accurate. Example: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=55248&group_ID=953&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog 1 foot-pound = 12 inch-pounds Both the cam caps and valve cover nuts are both torqued to 78 inch-pounds (6.5 foot-pounds).
