    Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding model specific repair manuals. I purchased one of the so called repair manuals in CD format and ended up with an digital version of the manual that came with the car. AS I am about to embark on a major service I would like to find the tightening specs for the various fasteners that I am about to remove. I have no problem paying for the information as I do it everyday in my own shop. Can anyone direct me as to where I can find this information? I am presently working on my 1989 Mondial t.

    Thanks

    Jamie

When I am asked why I am willing to spend so much on a car I reply "because shrouds don't have pockets"

I have a 348, and many of the major tightening torques (but not all) are posted on a page (B88) in the Workshop Manual. I've scanned that page and attached it here. Some of the other torques (but not all) are posted in text in various sections. I would think your Mondial T torques would be the same for the engine, clutch, etc.

When it comes to steel studs in Ferrari aluminum engines, the numbers shown for the 308 for the same size studs/bolts should be the same. I've seen 308 torque lists on threads on Fchat before, so you may want to try using the search function link above to see what lists you can find. I've noticed that my 348 has mostly helicoiled holes in the engine, and not sure when that practice started for Ferrari. But this should mean that if you use 308 torque lists, you will have less reason to be concerned with stripping threads for an engine with helicoils installed. As I say, 308 list torques for many fasteners that I've seen are the same as for my 348 list.

Of course, you can feel free to post questions here for specific torques if you have trouble finding them. Good luck with the project!

    Rick,

Thanks for taking the time to scan and post the chart for me. I also appreciate the insight into the 308 fastener information as well. I will keep you posted as the project unfolds. I was supposed to start today but my son bought his first car (95 Golf) yesterday and we had to pick it up today. Hopefully next weekend.

Just make sure to measure the size of the stud, and the thread pitch (threads/inch), and find the same size/thread in a similar application (such as cam cover, oil pan, etc) on a Ferrari torque list, and you should be fine.
