Ok, I'm new here, but I just bought a ‘03 360 Coupe with 20 months of warranty left. It should be delivered to my Denver location in about a week.

It's a beautiful car, and, normally I do all of my own maintenance on all of my collectable cars. (I’m just one of those “hands on” guys) However, these cars seem unique on repairs and maintenance.

So do I continue to do the oil changes, etc, like I do on my other cars? OR do I leave it to the F service department only?

    Tnx for your responses!

    Bill

You can probably purchase the necessary service manuals, tools and test equipment to do most maintenance on your own, but in the end you will pay for it severely in resale value. You will not have service records from dealers or well known Ferrari specialists. Sure, you can keep meticulous records but those won't count for much to most prospective buyers, especially for the later (ie, higher priced) models.

If you're not concerned about resale value, wrench away! It's just a car.

If you want to do oil and brake pad changes go ahead. For more in depth work, not meaning to offend but if you have to ask, no.

It is just an engine. Suck, squish, bang, blow. Nothing majical about it. I do all my own work on my Ferrari. What I have found is that the engines are designed very well, and they are pretty straight forward. But just like any type car there is a learning curve you will have to go through. The dealers have the luxary of going to a Ferrari tech school, and seeing several cars a month that the DIY'ers don't. But other than that, I say if you can turn a wrench, then you'll be just fine.

Your post says it all. Just look thru the ads and even on B-J auctions the fact that a vehicle has all service documents and other pertinent documentation does definitely enhance the value.
