    ok. so the repairs are:
    - new lock/ignition set
    - 2 small dents to wing and door
    - 2 inch scratch around lock
    - torn rubber around window
    - torn rubber joint (that fits around door frame)
    - small rip to leather console

    and the envelope please....$7062.60

    frankly this is ridiculous.
the insurance comapny is insisting on ferrari garage and labor. if it were just me paying, i would take it to a reputable independent garage and get it all done for $2k...am pretty sure.

    Ross......

At resale time you'd be a lot happier if the repair bill for the damage was from the franchised F-dealer......as opposed to "Joe's Garage".....don't you think ?

I know what you are getting at......insurance company overkill causes premiums to go up.......it's a "Damocles Sword" to be sure......

well you are right and wrong. if i can help it, i will never sell this car so re-sale doesnt enter my calculation. on the other hand, at least this way i will have ultimate recourse if something doesnt fit just right.

my guess is that the insurance company will balk at the rubber joints and the leather scratches coz they are pretty minor.....but that will still leave the total in excess of $4-5k.

I have alot of cars. The few times that I have needed body work. My insurance company has always insisted on the blank check approach with the Fcars. With the other stuff.......boy can they be penny pinchers!
